I worked in military mental health some time back and I can tell you this is the tiny tip of an iceberg. Rape, sexual assault, and harassment is an epidemic throughout the military. But it's hushed up or ignored. Superiors generally don't want to hear about it. Sometimes commanding officers reprimand the victim, not the perp. It's a blight on all the services and needs to be pulled out by the roots by looking into as many complaints as possible. Let me say it again: This kind of treatment happens a lot.
