1. Trump did not make Juneteenth famous, he reminded the world how ignorant he is. The world knows what Juneteenth represents as they have always celebrated it with us! We did not need Google, white people, or the media to make Juneteenth famous, it was already famous. Just because you, he, and other white people did not know what Juneteenth was, did not mean it was not already famous.

   Google searches mean you, he, and other white people were out of touch with Black History. As an educator, I have always taught my students about Juneteenth as long as I have taught school and worked with children. Juneteenth was just as famous as Frederick Douglass and Trump didn't know who he was either. Trump does nothing yet he wants credit for, and wants to put his name on, everything others do.

   We are sick and tired of white people taking credit for Black people's accomplishments! Juneteenth did not need Google because we taught it in school and Black people already knew about it before Google existed. In fact, we have celebrated Juneteenth before personal computers and the Internet existed. Before Black History was taught in public schools, Black people were taught Black History at home and in Black churches.

   At least 46 states and several other countries observed Juneteenth as a holiday and Black people have always celebrated it as our day of independence! So, hell no, Trump does not get to take credit for our holiday just because ignorant people did not know what it was. If white people really cared about Black History, they would make a point to learn about it on their own and not wait to look it up after discovering that it is among the plethora of Black History topics this ignorant president does not know.

   Thusly, and I reiterate, Google searches did not make Juneteenth famous, it proved the ignorance of people who did not know about it or did not take the time to learn about it.

I'll be honest, I never heard of it but I think it's great that it's getting recognized because I think people should understand that the White House deliberately scheduled this rally on this day that apparently is meaningful to black Americans, in a city that also has a lot of meaning for black Americans during a time when black Americans all across the country are raising the issue of police violence against black people.
