I support gun rights and believe that people are responsible for pulling the trigger and not the apparatus itself. Saying that, it seems extremely hypocritical of the SCOTUS to just out right overturn it Roe v Wade. They're directing it to the source instead of seeing it abortion in spectrum, they projected it as black and white out of ignorance
This isnt pro life vs pro choice. It's pro abortion vs anti abortion.
Biden can set into place a bold plan, that is politically popular, to take control of this issue. Here are some things he should be doing:
1. Blame the Republicans for taking away women’s rights. Blame them daily and in some way. Make this election on whether individual candidates support or oppose the codification of Roe.
2. Demand that the Senate vote on the Roe codification bill that has already passed the House. Demand that every Senator vote on whether an exception to the filibuster is authorized for this specific bill. Forcefully confront Sinema and Manchin. If they cave and vote for the carve out than Biden will have codified Roe and returned rights to the women of this nation. If they continue to refuse, the argument is made why voters need to put 52 Democrats in the Senate. Incidentally he would speed the replacement of at least Sinema by some other Arizona Democrat.
3. Encourage and fund the establishment of abortion clinics by Native Americans in their Reservations. Just as they have the legal right to step around state laws prohibiting gambling and operate casinos, they have the right to establish abortion clinics. There are Reservations within easy distance of virtually all Americans and the Native Americans need the jobs.
4. Again, make the election a referendum on codifying abortion. With this, Biden can expand Democrats control of both the House and Senate.
5. Finally, no more excuses on why the Administration has been so wooden in its responses. Be aggressive and make this a Party wide message that is delivered over and over. Forget inflation and gas prices. Three issues will make the difference this fall — abortion, treason and military assault weapons. This is how to win.
