basically this is a whoever makes first move loses scenario, if taiwan declare independence, China will launch unification war and no one will interfere since it is their de jure territory(acknowledge by pretty much everyone). if China act first and launch war without provocation, then there is a slight chance US will get involved and provide naval support to lock off taiwan straight, but the odds are low tho, after all as mentioned its their de jure territory.
