  1. I have paid back my $65k of student loan debt. It was such a big relief to be rid of it. College is definitely too expensive. It's even more expensive now than when I was in college. I think the main issue is that college is too expensive. College tuition goes up too much every year.

  2. Person with a High School Diploma vs. College Graduate. Who stands a better chance at finding a job? Who stands a better chance at getting a higher wage? Why is student loan debt the "chosen" debt to paid for? The single mother who only has a high school diploma, who lost her low wage job, and ran up credit card debt to pay for necessities for her family is more deserving of having her debt paid off first

  3. Can someone explain to me where all the money has gone? My mom made $80,000/year for L’Oréal. She got laid off in 2011. L’Oréal is still a very wealthy company. Where is the money? Why does it feel like every industry is broke? It makes no sense to me. WHERE IS THE MONEY?

  6. Student loan lenders were misleading by calling the loans a “federal” student loan when in fact most loans are presented as one loan but they are several…a mix of federal and private. Many of us see 5 or more loans only after investigating. The names of the lenders are almost impossible to find. Why are they hiding? Many of these banks and lenders would refuse a loan to the same students because of no credit or bad credit so what is the reason for approving a student loan? Why are American students paying interest on student loans and why are private lenders jumping to loan money to broke students?Why are universities so expensive? Many universities are sitting on enough wealth to give free tuition for 30 years. We are taxed heavily where does the money go? The military? The loans are dishonest and should be voidable? A group of attorneys should take this on and use Noam Chomsky as an advisor.

  9. The professors can't be paid THAT much to necessitate such a high price tag. Especially not if they're teaching in the range of 50 to 200 students at one time. This is just ridiculous. I'm currently attending a community college in my area that is VERY fairly priced, but I'm somewhat worried about transferring even to a public institution. I understand if the college needs the money for building new complexes, computer labs, etc. but most often that is NOT what they're doing. Where, then, is this money going?! Why does it cost an arm and a leg to go to college now when it was affordable for just about everyone in the '80's? Why does it have to be my generation??

I paid off my student loans before I graduated bc i took on a full time job while attending classes at night, it was seriously hard and people asked my why am I doing this but I just want the burden to be gone. I graduated during this pandemic but im glad I took care of my all my debt, I want to say I was the lucky one who got away with the skin of my teeth

  13. It boils down to what you are majoring in. Of course college isn't worth the debt if your majoring in interior design, art, underwater basket weaving, etc. Unless you want to be a teacher, doctor, or have a STEM type job, don't take on a butt load of debt by going to college.

  14. There is no student debt crisis plain and simple. People know what they are signing up for when they go to colleges that are $50k a year. They would rather look cool putting their college in their insta bio or get to drink and party. Than do it the smart way and save money. I went to college and came out debt free because I first went to community college then transferred to a state college and commuted there instead of staying on campus. During college I worked at ups who offered $5,250 a year in tuition reimbursement. Yeah this isn’t the fun way but it’s the financially smart way. Don’t complain about something you signed up for. If you don’t want debt do it the smart way.

  15. I see that the facts were there, that people of color seem not to see the returns they should even with a degree, my question is , why? If the facts are there, why aren’t we trying to figure out what makes this so significant??

    Nobody is mentoring these young people about this.

    That's the problem. Even when I was in University.

    They're not even keeping up with what's in the Job Markets either.

    It's just people at the register. Taking their Loan Money.

    And if you have personal problems on top of that: Good Luck getting any sympathy.

    It didn't happen for me either.
