I'm old enough to remember when college is what young adults use to do to prepare for a career. Now college sports IS the career, while studying hard and building up huge amounts of debt is for fools. I'm not blaming the player; I'm blaming the 100+ year old system that profitted from sports while putting academics in the back seat.
