Now when we consider that the highly-inaccurate PCR testing that is well know to produce false positives (even in the presence of water, Mountain Dew, pig's blood, and so on) then we can easily deduce that the percentage is much closer to 100% in reality.

Of course “cases” have risen as more people are getting tested in preparation for the holidays, winter weather keeping people indoors, people with colds getting tested to rule out COVID, symptomatic and asymptomatic people who don’t get tested, and accessibility to testing. More useful stats would be changes in infection rate per population (i.e., x/100,000) and the number of hospitalizations of confirmed COVID patients.
Both the media and the public health representatives (CDC, Dr. Fauci, etc…) gloss over the affects of variables when presenting information to the public. Is it sensationalism or a belief that the average Joe is incapable of comprehending scientific complexities?
