I hope everyone understands that this is the END of the government as we know it. This government shutdown is going to extend for YEARS, not just months. And no, people should not be forced to work without pay once a 1-month period has expired. It has now been one month and any government workers who don't want to work should QUIT their jobs and work for the private sector. However, if you do not quit your job then you are still a worker for the government and you must go to work, otherwise you are absent from your job and you will be fired accordingly. Just try working for a private company and not showing up for work and see how long it takes before you get fired; just a few hours, that's how long before you are given notice.
