Goddamn black bears. We had them everywhere in the Everglades. I was always terrified to take the trash out and cut grass. Luckily they never showed any interest in us or our dogs, but they loved our garbage. Whenever it rained and the sun came out, you could literally see so much trash floating in the woods next to our house. Also, there are laws protecting these animals. You can protect yourself to a certain extent, but it is illegal to kill them.
The usual Florida you see on the news do some weird things, but this one is heroic af.
