I think the West should not underestimate Russia's response to sanctions. You are trying to take russian economy down but you may have to prepare that Russians will take revenge by taking the whole world down with them and they have that capability. To be sincere, to mean what you say stop funding Russian government, I know it will be hard for your countries but cut off Russian gas and oil since those are the real source of income for Russia. To call for solidarity best is cut off Russia's source of earning on top of sanctions. Let's pay for Ukrainian freedom as the whole world. It will be hard for all of us but we go for that. A major miscalculation by the west to use the nuclear option on sanctions on Russia.
Did JFK wanted to start a nuclear war when he gave an ultimatum to Cuba?
Of course not but he wanted to say here is the line and you don't cross it.
Besides the sanctions, NATO should have given Russia an ultimatum and tell Putin that he has one month to leave Ukraine or prepare to go to war.
Then these so-called peace negotiations would actually have a fair start. How can you say you're having Peace negotiations with no ceasefire? What kind of peace negotiations happen in a country that is an ally of your enemy? Belarus is helping Russia by sending it's own troops to help Russia. Belarus just approved to have nuclear weapons!
Unfortunately these sanctions and the Ukranian brave resistence will not stop Ukraine from falling nor will impose a significant threat to the Russian's economy. Why would Putin stop after successfully annexing Ukraine and Crimea?

Putin threatened the whole world with nuclear war if any country intervenes and the Western countries are showing weakness.
