We should be safe in this country, but I am increasingly aware that my African American, Latin American, Mexican American and Asian American neighbors aren’t. They’re more frequent victims of violence and more likely to be left without answers as to why they lost a loved on or why the person they care about was victimized.
This is absolutely unacceptable. The family of this young man has legitimate expectations for communication about what happened to their dear one. What’s the hold up? How can we say the final lines of our Pledge of Allegiance as white Americans when this type of abuse BY LAW ENFORCEMENT & the “justice system”, is occurring? How can we really say, “with liberty and justice for all.”
If “for all” doesn’t mean everyone, does it mean anything?
