  4. I sell cars at a Chrysler dodge jeep ram store and we do mark our high performance items up but other then that everything for the most part is sticker so when they said 82% of sales last month were over sticker I was shocked

  5. Only here in America $8k will get you a used vehicle older than 2014 with over 180k miles, parts needing replacement, and 50 service records

  6. Right before the pandemic hit in 2019, I bought a brand new Toyota 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium and paid under $39k before fees and tax. Now, that same vehicle on the lot is $55k-60k+. Not even a PRO, just an Off Road trim.

  7. These people are screwing everyone over because they can, it’s ignorant, they should all be identified publicly. The dealers are also the ones inflating used car prices. Greed will come back at you, I can’t wait for the aftermath. I hope many lose their licenses. The consumer overpaying now will lose so much in a couple years when prices stabilize, it’s disgusting.

  8. Here's an idea; unless you HAVE to buy a car right now, just DON'T. And if you do, stop paying over sticker or over book on used. It's validating the price gouging. And way more than 10% of Ford dealers are charging mark ups on their vehicles. Even worse, go to a Toyota dealer. STOP getting bedazzled by the sales tactic "But we will give you top dollar for your trade right now!" Maybe so but then you're resetting the clock and they make up for it selling the new car thousands too high.

  10. Wonder if Homedepot will issue a warning. $13 piece of OSB for $74 but is now $48 this week. That's like a half ton pick up being sold at $450,000. Where are the whiners on that topic?

  11. Consumers are also to blame here! People are paying these markups! Because people are buying over msrp the dealerships are reaping the rewards. Why would they sell for sticker price when consumers are being dumb and buying??!! STOP BUYING!!!

  12. Tried to but a new Harley yesterday, figuring what I thought would be an out-the-door price based on a similar purchase of another new Harley last summer. I was shocked to see that destination and assembly fees doubled from about $1K to 2K. On top of that, last September Harley issued a dealer bulletin requiring another $1K from the customer as a "supply chain fee". As well, there is NO MSRP discount. Enough is enough. Other motorcycle brand (Indian, BMW) dealers aren't trying to stick it to me like this. I'm a loyal H.D. guy, up to a point.

  13. Uh, supply and demand. Take an econ class and don’t buy into the lip service from manufacturers. They cannot dictate what the car sells for over sticker.

  14. Vintage truck owners are now laughing bc we can enjoy our 'investments' even more these days. I don't have 10k in my fully restored '64 Dodge D100 Sweptline pick-up truck that runs like a top. I can tune it up or repair it with parts readily available online from vintage suppliers who are overflowing with parts & no computer chips required. Local stores like NAPA, O'Reilly, AutoZone, RockAuto & Summit also have plenty of parts for older vehicles sitting on their shelves gathering dust. I have many of the common items I'd preordered & stockpiled just in case of an event like this! 100k for a new truck? Ya right, I could restore 5 old kool trucks for that kind of money!

  15. Supply and demand. I got more for my Jeep on trade in than I paid for it new in 2018. They are selling it now for 8000$ more than I paid for it new. It is a crazy market.

  16. I see where some Honda and Toyota dealers are padding sticker price by as much as $1500 for fabric protection…on vehicles with leather upholstery! Just turn around and shop elsewhere.
