13. I dont get it. There is a shortage of 50000 truck driving jobs. It pays a fair wage. Nothing like what you were making. But you can work. Whats the problem? They are hiring like crazy. Ive had my CDL for 11 years. You might not get home for 2 or 3 weeks at a time but at least your working taking care of your loved ones. Change is hard. I did it back in 09. So can you. Its hard on the road but it pays the bills. After around 5 years you will have enough experience to get a local job. I had to move my family. It was hard. They understood i had to keep working. Get retrained. Nothing wrong with that. Your jobs have been going to Mexico for years. Dont tell me your surprised? Pensions and benefits are a thing of the past. The gravey train is over. With all they were paying you folks its no wonder a small car costs $26000.00 People cant afford them. Dont get left behind. Sign up for driving school. You will always work. Its hard but you can do it. I did after 38 years in the printing industry. You cant look back. Those days are over. I was never smart enough to go to college. But i was smart enough to know that certain fields of work would be gone. Take care of your family. Drive a truck. The days of 99 weeks of unemployment are gone. Now i think its 12. You have to check. Maybe your union has your back. All the dues you paid maybe they can cut a deal. Cut all benifits and reduce your wages by 60 percent. Then they wont move to Mexico. Here in America you can make up the difference in food stamps and a bunch of other government assistance.The illegal people do it all the time. Give it a try. Food banks? No one is going to blame you for all that the union did to send all these high paying uneducated jobs to Mexico. They are unskilled also. Just alot cheaper. If you ran a company you would find a country that paid peanuts to keep the stock price up to. Down there they dont have to worry about weeks and weeks of vacation time. Sick time. Healthcare. I cant come in because my kids sick. Seniority. And all that nonsense. Let alone a shop steward. Down there a Mexican will do whatever is asked. Twice as fast as an American. With no lip. I worked for years in a union shop. If you were smart enough in your spare time when not at work to realize its a dying industry in America your all set. Dont tell me you were not prepared for this? Please dont tell me that. Look up Maytag in newton Iowa. They shut down a whole town overnight. Moved to Mexico. Who was going to pay $2300.00 for a dryer? All because the unions wanted to keep uneducated unskilled labor making $26.00 per hour making dryers. Look it up. With there costs keep rising every year where you work. At what point does a does a small Chevy car that costs $48000.00 to buy. Every year prices go up. I see they are back to leasing cars again. The average person cant afford $680.00 Per month for a car payment. Thats for 8 years. I see you can get 10 years on a truck. The average worker cant afford that. You priced yourself right out of the market. I remember when you introduced the 2 level wage scale. New hires came in at much less than the same person doing the same job. Way to go. Boy you took care if yourself. All you did was look after yourself. Greed.
