True, they were told to evacuate. But you'll always have the people who say they've been through other hurricanes so they'll be okay. Also, one hurricane I made it through in Texas it was more like the elderly and people who can't leave their homes due to dialysis, on oxygen, whatever the reason, they couldn't get anyone to help them evacuate. There was one nursing home where the residents couldn't leave and had to evacuate with first responders. I feel sorry for them and understand where they're coming from. But, able to evacuate with transportation and staying put, I have little to no sympathy for those people.

Biblical? What's Biblical is Yeshua telling people not to build their houses upon the sand. We not only build them upon the sand (beaches), when storms destroy them the general public is made to pay for their rebuilding. And not just once but over and over and over. Meanwhile our schools crumble for lack of funds. Time to stop building up the sand, folks. No more beach front houses. If you're foolish enough to ignore basics our ancestors understood as fundamental, like not building upon the sand, or buying houses built upon the sand, tax money should not be used to rebuild for you. It's just not fair. Our kids deserve school roofs that don't pour water in, and textbooks that aren't falling apart, and carpets that aren't mildewed.
