Let it be noted that a contributing factor to this disaster was those counties ignoring federal flooding mitigation help. Once again we see what happens when conservatives and libertarians have their way. Two or three of these counties opted out of federal flood insurance that would have required them to make some basic defense preparations against flooding. They chose not to because they are Republicans. Now the federal government is going to have to bail them out. Well done Republicans as always!

The Romans figured out infrastructure – it's time for the US to do the same. We are busy fighting each other and not taking the folks looking for work at our borders and building better piping, safe places to be during these storms and realizing that the more we fill our nation with people and concrete – the less opportunity for the water to be absorbed. Climate change, climate change, climate change – in truth its 10-20% population growth and expansion without protecting the folks with any civil defense to handle when bad days like this happens so we can rebuild. I hope the best for these folks but insurance is not enough – we need temporary housing, a way to get clothes and food on their backs and a safe healthy place to provide medical assistance. The US is a great place – we need to be great to our citizens and we are just letting the hang out to dry over and over again – democrat or republican it doesn't matter – these folks need more than charity – a freakin set of mobile homes should already be federally and state mandated setup to move them and get the wrecking crews cleaning up this area for a rebuild. Instead we whine about masks and watch TV while doing nothing.
