I just watched a video that about a case that happened in 1991 that led to the conviction of a now 53 year old man, Rocky Myers. With very insufficient and contradictory evidence, an innocent man in Alabama who was unjustly tried and sentenced to death by a Judicial Override – which means even though his jury had recommended life in prison, the judge decided to sentence this man to death. He has intellectual and learning disabilities, making it hard for him to understand the means of his own case. His jury was made up of 11 white "peers", one of which was even on record using racial slurs in reference to Myers. He has been let down by his lawyers in the past, and was unable to take his case before the Supreme Court because the limitations on time had passed, unbeknownst to his knowledge from lack of communication on his previous lawyer's behalf. There has been new evidence that has come to light in attempts to prove that Myers' case was coerced by the police in numerous ways, but the ONLY way that he can be pardoned from Death Row is by an Act of Clemency from the governor of Alabama.
