1. The Ginsburg Rule was actually rules that were established in 1993 by Senator Joe Biden, when he chaired confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee. Justice Ginsburg followed the rules in her hearing at that time, which has been the standard since. If you don't believe this to be true than please research it through google, you will find many sources. I am not fond of this rule, I think the Senate should be able to ask the nominee any question. However, I can't fault Amy Barrett, since this has become the practice. If anything for future hearings, the Senate should maybe come with a rule that specifically states that nominees must answer questions and cannot use such rules due to a bipartisan agreement in the Senate.

So I have not been able to watch the Senate proceedings and only catch some of the events on NPR, but you have to be kidding me, if none of the Democrats have asked her point blank, "So based on historical Justice nominations after the death of previous Justices or just in general nominations close to presidential elections, do you feel you are being nominated prematurely, and if not, how did you come to that conclusion?"

Might someone explain to Sen Harris and her colleagues that a Supreme Court justice is supposed to decide the validity of EVERY case based upon the EVIDENCE PRESENTED at that specific hearing, and not speculate on 'what if'? A panel of 9 party specific justices is not stated anywhere in our laws, yet every nomination now is based solely upon party politics.
