Lack of Broadband Internet Creating Divide in America

High speed broadband internet needed for video conferencing has always been hard to get in rural America because companies make less money connecting remote communities rather than cities. Internet is a public utility in Wilson, North Carolina, but that isn’t an option in other rural areas as they struggle with slow and spotty service.» Subscribe to NBC News: http://nbcnews.to/SubscribeToNBC

  1. In India rural areas, villages have optic fiber internet and my village population is 2000 but we have super fast optic fiber internet
So america is backward as compared to India in rural area internet service

  2. Its not.profitable for.internet providers to supply this resource to the very people whom as a majority vote for the republicans that are bought by those whom reap those profits! Wake up America!since when are laws determined by the telecommunication suppliers and not the voters?

  3. Me, who's been using free mobile data coupons, watching this: 😨

Kidding aside, with the world's current situation, it made me realize that internet is going to be like electricity and water in the near future. Tho not half of us here in our country has internet, not even near half of the homes perhaps, this is something to look forward for. Almost everything is done online these days. 😧

  4. hit the road Jack, and doncha come back no more no more no more no more. And pay for it. getting to rural america (nice way of saying all 50 states) will require roads. Infrastructure, anyone? or do we put it all in space (orbit) ?

  5. Broadband Fibre is infrustructure in NZ..abd farmers depend on it to track stock. Surprised its not one of the most important utilities such as roads and power. We can choose our providers, and they pay to access the network.

  6. Voter Suppression is SUBVERSIVE! ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS VOTING FOR VOTER SUPPRESSION LEGISLATION SHOULD BE PROPERLY CHARGED WITH SUBVERSION!! LET THE PIECES FALL WHERE THEY MAY. AND IF THE HEAVILY ARMED RIGHT-WING ZEALOTS RISE UP IN ARMS, IMPOSE MARTIAL LAW TO QUELL THEM DOWN. THE WHITE SUPREMACISTS BEHIND THIS SUBVERSION WOULD DO THAT TO THE REST OF US IN A HEARTBEAT! DO THIS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, AND APPLY THE RICO LAWS THE THE ENTIRE TRUMP MAFIA:

  7. We dropped AT&T's unreliable broadband and overpriced DirecTv three months ago for TMobile's 5G internet. It's reliable with no buffering. It's less expensive and we now have a service that allows us to chose only the programming we want.

  8. nationalizing broadband isn’t a bad idea. Too bad it is tied in with a $2 trillion infrastructure bill that also includes hundreds of billions dumped into slush funds and Biden’s favorite choo choo train company Amtrak, and socializing bits of the housing market. We could easily get rid of many parts of the Infrastructure bill and nobody would suffer.
