ABC’s coverage of the historic moment man set foot on the moon.
On July 16, 1969, the trio lifted into space aboard the Apollo 11 and then entered a lunar orbit. By the next day, Armstrong and Aldrin, aboard the lunar module Eagle, had separated from Collins who remained in the command module.
And on July 20, 1969, Americans and the staff at Apollo Mission Control in Houston, Texas, watched and listened in amazement as Armstrong and then Aldrin placed their feet on the moon’s surface.

Today is the 50th anniversary of this great event. After all the ramblings of moon landing hoax idiots over the years, today I hear not one shred of that on ANY media outlet! Nowhere is there a discussion of this as a hoax;….accept amongst conspiracy idiots on You Tube. Very satisfying to know that right thinking individuals dominate.
That generation of men and women of WWII are rightfully called the Greatest Generation. Those men and women that dedicated their lives to qualify beyond excellence in our efforts to get to the moon are also a Great Generation. Know their stories and you will know the price that was paid.
I’m 60 years old and this was and still is the greatest achievement of my lifetime. Incredible. Giants really do walk the earth and other heavenly bodies!
Btw, some trivia. The official name of Earth’s one and only moon is Luna. Mars, the planet that scientists want us to go to in person, has two moons. They are Phobos and Deimos which can be translated as “Fear” and “Panic”.
