John Hinckley, the man who shot President Ronald Reagan in 1981, has been granted release from all court supervision in June if he remains mentally stable and continues to follow the court-issued rules. NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell covered the assassination attempt when it happened and now has reaction from Reagan’s family.

There are people doing more time than 40 years, or doing life for far less heinous crimes than an attempted assassination on a US President. This is repulsive.
