  1. Oil has been leaking for weeks if not months before the October 10th weekend when large quantities of oil washed ashore. I have surfed Newport many years and I am in the water almost every day. Weeks before October10th, I saw lines of oil and tar balls on the shore line. Approximately 2 weeks before October 10th I saw an oil slick the size of a swimming pool next to the jetty west of Newport Pier. It is nice to know investigators are finally realizing this leak did not just start October 10th weekend. The leak occurred three miles off the coast of Newport. Photos show that the pipeline was sitting on the ocean floor clearly exposed and vulnerable to getting pushed around by geological events such as strong storm waves and the corrosive forces of seawater or anchors . According to one new source, a review of the documents indicate that when Shell Oil first applied for the permit for the pipeline 40 years ago, , the pipe was supposed to be 10 feet under the sea floor in a trench. That would've prevented storms or anchors from moving it. Oil companies will try to shift the blame so taxpayers will have to pay to clean up their oil pollution. The only way to make sure the taxpayers don't have to pick up the tab for the15 years or so it takes to clean up these oil spills, is to stop drilling off our coast. See also The Hill "The only way to eliminate the risk of catastrophic oil spills is to stop drilling." https://thehill.com/opinion/energy-environment/576081-the-only-way-to-eliminate-the-risk-of-catastrophic-oil-spills-is?rl=1

  2. dear god get that evil oil pipline out of america and off of indian land and get the american national guard off tribal land. they are hurting people. get canada and its fascist police and oil companies off of tribal land and out of america. they are hurting innocent people. somebody better tell biden to shut that fascist bigoil shitshow down or it will definately bite him in the ass when he wants to get reelected. democrats voted biden into office, that includes the majority of american indians. biden needs to listen to them and acknoledge the inhumanity, direspect and violations done by the U.S. government to the american indians that are being made. the U.S. needs to get big oil and its murder police off of private ,protected tribal land. May truth and logic open our eyes to see what is wrong and fix it. let us all help and heal all Americans and bless the American Indian today. JOE BIDEN, remove the piplines now, and then round up the evil polluters who just spilt all the cancer causing meth contaminated oil up and down what was beautiful california coastlines and beaches. lock them away.

  3. Thank you to the Wildlife Rescue teams & Dr. Michael Ziccardi for all your work & efforts to save our wildlife after this most recent oil spill. You are God sent! 🙏🏼

  4. Expect to see more with the pipeline shut down. Also I’m glad to see abc showing all the killed and wounded birds from wind farms and solar thermal plants that torch birds for 25 miles in all directions, oh wait they never show that…

  5. It's a waste of time and it's done for public relations and for optics. Almost all of the wildlife effected in these events die regardless of human intervention, and a majority of the oil is never cleaned up. It's not sustainable to keep having spills and acting like we can just clean it up afterwards. We cannot. We need to stop this immediately, we need to stop building more pipelines, we need to stop floating oil across the oceans and seas in huge ships, and we need sustainable energy.

  6. It's great that ABC and California care about little marines. It's despicable that ABC and California believe that an Actual Marine should be punished for exercising his First Amendment Rights in speaking out against the unmitigated disaster that was ABC's and California's preferred President's Afghanistan withdrawal. Apparently useless birds covered in oil are more important than Free Speech, which sadly, ABC depends on.

    Morons.

  7. Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him ~ Isaiah 62:11!

  8. Yeah if they worried more about the people living under the bridges and along the roads that really need mental help would that not be a good thing..

  9. I'm vegan and care morally about animals, however, why isn't the California government doing similar things for homeless Californians who are trapped on their streets and sleeping in tents within disease-infested conditions, without showers or toilets? Shame on California's inhumanity and backwards/contradictory policies.
