  1. This was to be the royals charm offensive. Well, to some of the people it was very offensive, but they brought it on their selves. Prince Harry was and is the wave of the future. He chose as his wife an intelligent, beautiful, multimillionaire, American lady with some melanin and the Brits couldn't deal with it. She was barely tolerated, but wasn't accepted or welcomed. Jamaica, Africa, the Caribbean, and islands in Polynesia loved he and Meghan, but the snobbish, racist media and some of his family didn't and so they left to make their own way and are on their way to becoming billionaires. Harry told them in 2020, they need to address colonialism and racism and its impact that is still going on. They called him a traitor and dismissed him. The same "traditions" that they so pompously used to bring about Brexit and Megxit is now biting them in the behind. No one is checking for the British Empire anymore, yet they act as though people still are. Whereas the Duke and Duchess seem to be two decent people, them parading around in expensive clothes and jewelry while people are starving was so cringey. Karma, baby.

I'm glad the reporter pointed out that is not the first a leader tried to betray the people fool them saying that they are going to do better than what is going on these people have studied and see that it's time because of the resilience and how Jamaica have fought their place in on the world stage they have come to strengthen the ties between Jamaica and Britain Mr prime Minister please do not deprive the locals of this help it's your job to breach a relation the Royals came just straighten the institutions and sponsor people that want to get up and sought for good that will help the crime to come down asking Scotland Yard to come and train the people so that's the intelligence could be very good that you could help to fight crime on the local level that's your job

  25. Most people aren't aware that what made the "British Empire" rich was the sugar plantations in the Caribbean, worked by slaves. When slavery was abolished in Britain, the government paid the slave owners retribution for the loss of their slaves, but they paid NO retribution to the slaves who had been treated so abominably for centuries nor did they give them decent wages to continue to work on these plantations. Every time you buy something at the store that is full of (unnecessary) sugar remember that this makes some very unscrupulous people very wealthy. Read the labels on your package. You have to wonder how much of the "royal" family's wealth came from these plantations?

Props to the folks of Belize, Barbados and Jamaica for bringing renewed attention to the often glossed over British colonial legacy in media — a country that had once held large swaths of the world hostage to its greed and lust for power but is otherwise now struggling to reinvigorate that imperialist legacy; only now, it is reframing itself as a "beacon of democracy" — in the guise of a "democratic monarchy." It's time to remove the facade of the British royalty as some kind of a symbol of "progress", and expose it for what it truly is: a lingering relic & symbol of British imperialism. The fact that William is prepared to acknowledge the horrors Britain had unleashed, but not offer an apology for them, only reinforces this fact. Similar renewed attention to European colonial legacies, particularly French colonialism, have surfaced elsewhere — like, for example, anti-French military rallies that took place from the Sahel to coastal northern Africa, prompting France to announce its intentions to withdraw its troops from the Sahel.
