  1. I don't understand how this new method of SAT testing will "help" those students who "cannot afford tutoring and extra test prep". It seems like the adaptive component of the new test method will continue to reflect scores similar to the current testing method. And if it doesn't, then I think we need to ask what does the test actually test? This whole switch to digital testing really just seems like a desperate attempt to maintain the SAT relevancy now that most schools have become test optional without actually implementing impactful change. I think this whole thing will backfire, and more students will just flock to the ACT instead as test scores are still an important component of college applications.

  2. We are helping students become less competitive, less literate, less cultured…..there is going to be a huge, huge difference between those who take the "optional" SAT and do not take it….the SAT is not only about scores….it's about exposing yourself to challenges and how you deal with those challenges….students gain so much just by preparing for the test…..not taking it is only going to be a major loss…..I teach SAT so I know what I'm talking about……anyways the "optional" is a "smart" move….lolol…..anyways…..

  3. But the thing is…

The important people and subjects are still going to require a certain level of standard.

Meaning, this whole "skipping" of the SAT requirements for UC systems…it's only for the Liberal Arts students. It doesn't include Science, Tech, Engineering, and Mathematics. You're still going to be required to take the necessary tests to get into those programs.

  4. What a sad state our country is in. I studied and studied and worked my butt off through college. Got a 1300 sweating. 33 on my act. None of it mattered, even with a 80 percent scholarship, requires so much debt in college that you are owned for decades. Because of this, every company you work at owns you as well, cannot afford to miss a payment. My son didn't go to college, I taught him myself and gave him a trade. 21 years old making 125k a year with no diploma, no debt. In the long run he will make more profit per work hour than I ever accomplished even with massive inflation. Don't allow the world to own you, debt is the enemy.

  12. I'm surprised they didn't go digital years ago. Hell, I'm surprised they didn't do it in the early 2000's. Plenty of other test were on computers back then. I wish people would stop acting like computers and the internet are such a new thing. I'd just be kind of wary of letting them use their own laptops, though. Someone's going to figure out how to cheat that way, without getting caught.

  17. They are just dumbing down the test so colleges can get more kids into their scam. People are waking up that college is a debt trap and enrollments are down. BTW, if the tests are racist and discriminate against minorities, how come Asians score highest on the tests??????

  18. That's not fair, I may have been hindered in going to a better school because my penmanship is terrible. Now that they may type it just seems unfair. Good news my salary is over 100k a year with a average HBCU school.

  19. At this point just let them Google all the answers. Whoever has the best research skills (or studied the hardest) wins. That's how it is in the real world nowadays 🤷‍♂️

  21. They're doing this because less people are going to college at all.
Good, the education bubble is deflating, and the colleges can't rely on international students (Chinese) forever.
    They will crash.

  24. To be honest, the SAT is fundamental flawed. Why should someone have to get a nearly perfect math score if they want to study something in the social sciences at a prestigious university. Almost no math is required, yet if you want to be admitted you have to be good at math.

  25. Standardized tests only show so much from a small perspective. I did below avg on my SAT in 1998. Went to the military, got the motivation kicked into me, got out and received an MBA from a prestigious institution. Not that it matters. It’s a piece of paper. Experience trumps education. It’s important to have both.

  26. Breaking News: Liberal Justice Stephen Breyer is retiring from the Supreme Court which means President Biden gets to appoint a new Justice (unless Mitch McConnell convinces Manchin and Sinema to hold the seat open until after the midterms in November).
