It was probably a reticulated python. It wasn’t going to eat him but they can constrict if you have them around your neck. It was literally hanging on to a “tree branch”, that’s why it’s head was up and looking around. I hope the guy is ok.
Most likely a constrictor of some kind. I doubt a corn snake would be large enough to suffocate a human (they're also usually very docile) — it was probably some kind of python (though balls are very docile too). Well this is something you don't hear every day. I guess that's why it made the news. 🤷♂️
