13. Regarding Thomas Jefferson HS: Thomas Jefferson was a brilliant man. Supremely important to our nation's founding. But a slave owner still. Sally Hemmings served as one of his many slaves and bore him children. Possibly they were lovers, but the power imbalance was extreme in whatever relationship they had, even for the time. And even in death he didn't free her. He lived long and his death wasn't sudden. So not freeing her was likely a decision he made every day. That isn't cool. It seems TJHS has a large African American student body. I don't think I'd be happy attending a school by his name, especially if I was an African American female. It'd make cheering for that school complicate for me. Time to change the name of that school IMHO. And no, that's not erasing history. Memorialisation isn't history.

15. I don't feel sorry for kids now days. When i was a kid in the 90's, I homeschooled off and on throughout my childhood & did not have the LUXURY of "Zoom"!. I had vhs videos to watch and a book & myself, alone in a room. That is literally it. No help from parents even. Talk about lonely. That was true loneliness. No Facebook, no video chatting, texting. I don't feel sorry for them. Not even an ounce.
