This withholding talk is simply crap, no one has seen such a dramatic increase in their paychecks to justify the significant reduction in refunds we are getting.

Do you know how taxes work? Do you know why tax returns work? This year we’re getting lower tax returns, because we payed less in taxes. The IRS lets you keep more of your money, that’s why they don’t give as much back.
The only way to know if you paid more or less tax this year is to
compare line 63 on your 2017 1040, and line 15 on your 2018 1040. I paid
about $1600 less this year with a similar income. For a more accurate
measure, or if your income this year is NOT similar to last year, then
you will want to compare your tax percentage paid each year. For 2017,
take line 63 (Total tax), and divide it by line 37 (Adjusted Gross
Income). Then, for 2018, take line 15 divided by line 7. Compare the
percentages. I paid 9.71% in 2017, and only 7.96% in 2018, a 1.75%
savings.
My refund was smaller but my bigger pay checks more than made up for it. MAGA
People are so stupid, less taxes were taken out your check throughout the year which means less refund, my employer totalled all of our taxes for the entire year and every single employee in the company payed less taxes then they did last year ,even after refund, lol stop being triggered and think for a second.
More fake news. The reason it's called a "tax return" is because the federal government is returning to tax payers what they over-charged you in tax during the year. It's not free money from the government (unless you qualify for tax credits). The reason the returns are smaller is because less tax was collected during the year. Less money withheld, less deductions each pay check and year = less of a refund. Stop treating tax refund season as if it's Christmas. You do realize that they are paying you back with your money right? They take a small loan, interest free from you every pay check and then if you paid the correct amount you get nothing back. If you paid too little you have to pay more back in. If they stole too much they pay you back some of your money. We need to (me definitely included) learn to save better on each paycheck so we don't depend on the hand out of our money at tax season.
