If you cherry pick 20 lines from the hearing then you have a very damning case against Trump. But nearly all those 'bombshell' lines turned out to have a caveat when cross examined. Yesterday was not bad for Trump.
Sondland said Whitehouse visit was 'quid pro quo' – but he then said every Whitehouse visit is! That's how it works.
Sondland also said that it was only his assumption that the aid was tied to the investigations… But what weight does that hold?
Obviously Trump wanted dirt on Joe, but the investigation into Burisma was started under Obama and a legitimate national concern…
They say Trump stopped the aid without a reason. Hale testified that was quite normal, and happened to other countries like Lebanon at same time.
They said Trump didn't care about corruption as the aid had already passed corruption checks… But Cooper clarified that they were only Department of Defence checks into the military set-up, not general checks. And the administration changed 2 days before the checks were cleared, with a whole new set-up! Of course you need a new check! How can anyone argue against that.
