I send a lot of money oversees. I run a business and a charity. Yes, I sometimes work with shady people but I believe in helping them find legitimate ways to make money. Unfortunately it seems like my fun has run out.

I also have been blocked from Western Union I have used Western Union since 2010. They will not tell me why I've been blocked. The only way I can send Western Union if I do it in person. I also have found their customer service lacking. I wish you the best of luck

Go watch FBI agent explain the pitfalls with WU. The problem is they don’t really have a way to verify who is on the other end so that negates the transaction especially in out of US. Nigeria is a hot bed of bad scams including the people picking up money. WU is insulating themselves on a troubled area. WU is also having competition. Bitcoin is a logical approach assuming there is a infrastructure to receive it. Furthermore confidentiality tags on emails are not legally binding unless agreed to. It is put there by Attourneys endeavoring to protect company information passed to the wrong party. You owe WU nothing. It’s equivalent to tying a sign on your car saying “if I hit you I am not liable”… aka Sham. If you put in an email you owe me a million dollars for receiving this email, it will be laughed out of court. Same baloney, different sandwich. Tastes like a BS sandwich either way.
I use worldremit to send my scammer… er girlfriend money in Colombia. Never had a problem. She gets the money very quickly.
I use prepaid credit card. You add whatever fund into it and they use it on their end. Works perfectly since nowadays, especially on line, all you need is the card number and exp. date.
WU is literally only ever used for shady activities, there's no good legitimate reason to use it.

Western Union bus getting worse each day. It’s no wonder Cryptocurrencies , specifically XRP , will end up putting them out of business. They’re cheaper, faster, and more reliable. They do not help when it comes to these issues, and even worse, they dont care!

western union in egypt sucks more. my family works in the u.s and live there from the 80s and we allways use western union. a year ago they started asking for a visa for foreigners in egypy (im not from egypt but i live there), and i dont have a visa here because i dont want to renew it every few months (worst experience waiting for hours in the sun ) when they started asking for a visa i told my dad to send it to my egyptian friend and it worked for a while, but now they say it most be someone related to you (brother.son.father…) so now we are resulting to an odd thing where my brother gives money to his friend who sends it to his family in egypt and then i go and get the money from them .
if someone from western union sees this i tell him screw your rules they dont work and make it harder for people like me u jerks

Same thing happened to me , someone in my ex wife’s family did some off shore gambling which they used western union , problem is anyone you send money to or recieved money from gets banned I was banned for sending my daughter in college 100.00 banned for life

I know that many laws have changed in Nigeria regarding money transfers and conversion, I am not sure if it is the same in other African countries. But it could be because of that.

Screw Western Union. They act a vehicle for scams worldwide with no repercussions, and refuse to help those who end up getting ran over by the 18-wheeler scam. On top of that, they randomly decide they are some morale arbiter and shut down businesses actually using them for their intended purpose (the money sending one, not the internal "fuck our customers, we got their money, what are they gonna do?" business model).
There are plenty of better services that won't take outrageous percentages from every Nickle and dime you spend, operate faster and easier, and won't take every chance they can to screw you over.

I lived overseas 10.5 years and often had trouble sending money. Out government or their government is usually the biggest problem or someone corrupt that gets a hold of the money. I suspect that some government agency (maybe customs) full of misinformation contacted Western Union and that is that.
I was shut down by both WU and MG (MoneyGram) for "suspicious behavior" that is sending my relatives in the United Kingdom "gifts" for dangerous things such as birthdays and Christmas, as well things like console video games so we can play online together. Should I be worry about the FBI coming for me? LOL
