“Every bit of it is being manipulated”: The viral success of the Jennifer Lawrence films is the result of a careful corporate strategy. The key: turning fans into a promotional machine.

Funny where we are today. We’ve all been working for free for corporations and influencers for the past decade because we normalized it.
The Hunger Games really pioneered massive online fandoms in the 21st century. With Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Facebook and etc. One could argue Star Wars had a presence, but The Hunger Games with something else, especially with the Tumblr craze.
This happens everyday, day in and day out. Companies profiting off of the youth , getting them to increase their profit. Instead of these adolescents studying, and preparing themselves for a better future they are slowly becoming marketing slaves without even realizing it . This is what society is teaching the next generation.
There was a fan made trailer presented entirely as 'Official' . It had SIX different  films in it and was close to 10 million views . There were adds which youtube made money from . Though clearly a violation in every sense of the word per YT rules . They never took it down . Allowing high viewed  false material to make money . This happens all the time on Youtube ,  its fraudulent . YT clearly picks and chooses per there guidelines even when its absolutely fake . Can YT operate legally like that ?
Looks like Frontline finally found a way to get teens to watch an episode of Frontline!
Obviously the girl is a fan of everything Hunger Games, and her teenage behavior is exactly just that: teenage enthusiasm for something that speaks to her, it only looks so extreme because technology and social media facilitate it such heavy involvement. When I was a teen (decades ago) there were things I was passionate about, but it really couldn't move beyond daydreams and doodles and the odd mix-tape. Now it can. It is possible when she grows up for her to be the social media organizer for a big company, and in turn, pull strings for the next generation. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Oh, the irony.
Where are the girl's parents in all this? Don't they realize she's an internet junkie? So much wasted time and potential! This round of kids are becoming more like Generation "Duh" rather than Generation "Like." Soft brained sheep.Â
"Manipulated"? Nope, the viral success of the movies had more to do with the success of the books.
She is what is known as New School brilliant !!!
I found the presenter in this clip to be smug and ingenuous, yes the marketing is a significant aspect of social media use and I'm sure its used for a lot of films and so on. I really don't give a damn, I'm more interested in the ideas in the film, the story. The right didn't like Hunger games because it took a swipe at their business model, thats the message, and btw breaking the last book into 2 films was a stupid marketing, cash grab idea, pure Hollywood.
Marshall McLuhan was right.
I have read the books. I have not watched the films. I am in my teens too.
Maybe Americans should watch Battle Royale instead.
What is a "Spark"? Â ….. "Badges"?
