  1. As a Master Guild Mercedes Tech: I have to say they did not turn the rotors. However brake pad labor is 1 hour or $100 per axle. Add $89 for pads and tax, $200 per axle.
They paid what $235 after the $35 off? Would not your brake pads only cost the same? You said your pads do cost more.
By the way, turning rotors is foolish. Making them thinner causes them to overheat/warp – fail faster.
New Bedix brand rotors purchased correctly cost about the same as pull and machine.
Just buy new rotors and maybe even lug bolts as many hacks likely ran them way over tight with their impacts.

  2. Yup, having replaced many brake on my vehicles over the years, those rotors were never touched. They still look like they have driven 40,000 miles (or whatever). NOW, unless you measure the rotor thickness, you really don't know if they need replacing. Also in my experience with modern cars…the pads and rotors are designed to wear out at the same rate… Gone are the days of replacing pads, and turning the rotors. Also, new rotors aren't much more expensive than than turning rotors. Side note: I recently had a tire shop tell me I needed new rear brake pads, while I was in getting tires. I know, because I replaced a seized caliper and changed the pads, that there was less than 3000 miles on the replaced pad. They showed me their demo with 20mm truck brake pads, and said mine were less than 6mm… I went home, put calipers on the brake pads, still in the box (only one side was seized so I only installed one pair) and they were the same thickness as the ones on the car…zero wear. Slimey

  3. Great video. Very professional as all professionals should be, right????? Unfortunately there many dealers like that. The one in the video should be named so that people know about it.

  4. A police car hit my front end many years ago.
Insurance company insisted I use "JP RHODES OF YARDLEY, BIRMINGHAM, UK"
My car had 30k on the clock and was mint.
After the job, I drove away and could hear a terrible knocking noise on the rear driver side.
I knew that they'd done something. They told me there was a rear drum issue, and the insurance wouldn't cover the rear of the car, so I'd have to pay cash.
I immediately took the car to a master mechanic who showed me multiple impacts on the rear drum. In his professional opinion, it was from a punch being hammered into the drum. Small 0.5 cm square dents were clearly visible.
JP RHODES put the car on a ramp, i showed them, and of course, they denied it.
The insurer was not willing to listen and was clearly in bed with the company.
I had 3 toddlers being driven daily in that car.
I can't begin to say how scummy this outfit was.

  5. And this is why I do all my own servicing/mechanic work 🤷🏽‍♂, I took my 17 civic to the dealership ONCE because I needed to get the ABS Pump (VSA Modulator) I installed programmed to the car and not only did they have my car for about a week (it wasn't priority for them), after nagging them for the car they gave it back to me with the positive wire of the battery disconnected. The negative terminal was fully seated on the post but my positive terminal was just touching the side of the post (which is the only reason it started), wasn't even on top of it. I left the dealership with electrical issues and the engine started slightly overheating in traffic because the radiator fan wasn't coming on because every bump I would go over the wire would shift around and bounce off the post. I figured this out about 10 minutes after leaving the dealership smt.

  6. Even if you found some very fine metal in the fluid, that's normal for CVT's. The way they are designed, they wear down the metal chain over time, that's why there are normally two filters on CVT's (one external and one internal as a screen) as well as a magnet either in the pan or on the drain bolt so you can remove those fine particles every service. Personally, I like to fully service CVT's every 30k miles. But you can push it up to every 50k miles.

Transmissions need to be serviced also people, don't listen to the dealerships.

  7. How can you be given a quota on repairs. You can’t control how many customers visit your facility nor what services will be needed. Shame on the management and the service writer.

  8. IfIf you replace the transmission fluid in a Nissan CVT transmission. A CVT has no business ever being in a transport product. Unless you can get one that functions with gears and not with a metal belt. But that is another concern.
Use the Amsoil CVT synthetic fluid it is the only fluid that Nissan allows to be put in their Transmissions other than the original Nissan fluid it will protect that transmission as long as possible. And has been tested to show that it reduces wear inside of that POS transmission

  9. "Instant justice" implies justice being delivered. There's no justice being delivered here. There's a responsible shop run by good people uncovering fraud perpetuated by a scumbag dealership run by bad people, but that fraud goes unpunished. Justice is not served.

I really appreciate the work you do, but this gets a thumbs-down for the title.

  10. No it's a dealership for you and no no not dealership steelership and sadness and was my favorite car I've been nothing but the same sports cars for most of my life after about 2002 the only thing they made they were actually any decent anymore the GTR beyond that I wouldn't touch anything especially well especially every year absolute garbage and their cbts no no it's a rubber band tranny the only CBT if there is actually worth bothering with is the Subaru with an actual chain not a rubber band

  11. It would be interesting to have a follow up after driving for a month or so.
Those transmission codes are tricky and it takes them some time to come back.

  12. CVT are junk and can be the reason the vehicle isn’t repaired but instead scraped. Buyer always beware when dealing or buying secondhand vehicles that have CVT transmissions (Constant Variable Transmission) 💯💩

  13. I had a Toyota dealership in Raleigh NC complete services on my car. The tire llight was on when I went in. The same tire light was on when I left, and the same tires had he same pressure that they had when I came in. The service checklist said that they were not only filled to recommended PSI but rotated. When I brought this to the service manager's attention, he offered to fill the tires…..

Yeah, no thanks. Since they lied about the tires, what else did they lie about? I had them complete the entire service again while I watched. They also gave me my next service for free.

Always watch them, if you can, and check behind them.

  14. I really do not get why when you have a scanner you are not driving the car with the scanner hooked up looking for faults. Also, if he is going to test transmissions, how do you verify if a tramsmission is properly functioning without verifying the fluid pressures???
The Nissan cvt is not a good transmission to begin with. I do not see where changing fluid in a transmission without changing the filter is going to accomplish anything.
If the customer complaint is a shifting issue and acceleration issue, at 100k, you could easily be looking at a wornout belt, solenoid issue, clogged tranmission filter, any or all of the above, which coiuld easily throw a code, but he said he drove the car and didn't find any codes. How? If you are not hooked up to the ecm, how are you going to know what the transmission is or isn't doing?
Anyway, I do agree with him on the brakes, only looks like the pads were changed, nothing else.

  15. It's my understanding thst some Nissan CVTs will have problems if they have been overfill. The fluid becomes aerated and the transmission goes into limp mode until it cools down

  16. I had a buddy who bought an amc matordor that the stealership did the same thing to him he took his car painted it yellow and put huge signs on it telling of the thieves at the stealership he parked it right in front of the car lot ….it took 2 weeks they called the cops who said he was totally in his rights …he got his money back and all the amcs sold in the last 6 months got returned!!!!!!
