Apollo 11 Moon Launch 50th Anniversary | CBS News Special Coverage, live stream

Fifty years ago today, Apollo 11 began its voyage into American history. The Saturn V rocket carrying astronauts Neil Armstrong, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin and Michael Collins launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 9:32 a.m. on July 16, 1969 — and just four days later, man first set foot on the moon. The moon mission was a milestone in human history. But it was also a groundbreaking moment in broadcast television, as CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite brought the frontier of space to living rooms across America. 1. Excellent video quality, CBS News! Thank you for this back when I was 13, and on this 50th anniversary today. Awaiting with anticipation for July 20th's post. Cheers!

  2. NASA lied to the world! We never went anywhere in 1969!! Especially not landing on the moon! So they used Stanley Kubrick to film it in s huge studio! this deception was designed to hide the truth concerning our true cosmology! and that’s …we’ve been a Flat Earth all along! And we’ve got a massive dome over us for protection! In other words…we CANT go anywhere in “outerSpace” because it doesn’t exist!

  3. At that time the American people and the mainstream media still hold on to some integrity of patriotism, now most of them are either being influenced or paid off by Chinese ccp to ruin our nation.

  4. The grandkids at 2:39:22 with Tom Harmon are Tracy Nelson "Father Dowling Mysteries" and Gunnar & Matthew Nelson from the band "Nelson." Rick Nelson's kids.

  5. @Gavin I Guess Not  Here you go …can you see stars from outer space?
Astronots say no stars visible … blacker than black. Moon, earth and sun are visible but no stars or planets.

Of course, this isn’t the right answer.
The real answer is “the stars were bright and so numerous they filled the sky … the milky way was a glowing river of stars. It was breathtaking.” That’s the right answer.

Perhaps they say “blacker than black” since this answer is consistent with the moon videos which show no stars or planets. In 1960 they didn’t have the technology to copy the movement and complexity of the cosmos so … no stars.

Here is a BBC interview with Neil Armstrong where he says space is a deep black; others say “blacker than black” and “blackest black you can imagine” in other interviews.

The Apollo astronots are lying .. you would be able to see stars from outer space.

How about the Int’l Space Station?

The astronots play with objects the computer didn’t graphically add … one passes his hand through an augmented reality “hat” … and third “flies” around with his harness clearly exposed. “Live feed” maybe not a good idea for NASA. There are an astounding number of “bloopers” for the ISS live feeds.

My recent favorite … Elon Musk claims he put a Tesla into outer space on a FakeX rocket. Musk’s comments at 5:53 of the ridiculously video … “You can tell it’s real because it looks so fake.” Sure thing, Elon. When I see something that looks really fake .. I tend to think it's fake.

  6. Wow, here I am 50 years later seeing this for the first time. Amazing, I can only image what it must have been like to watch that live!

  7. Where are the people protesting the fact that Ex Nazi's pioneered the Space Programme and a black man was denied a fair shot at being an astronaut.

  8. I only wish they had remastered the audio. Towards the end of it now, and the audio has been static city. Can’t understand Walter or anyone else right now.
