Feds still want citizenship query on census

Despite the Supreme Court ruling last week against the Trump administration putting a citizenship question on the 2020 Census and the Commerce Dept. saying it would comply, the Justice Department is still trying to include the question after a tweet from President Trump.

  1. Amash's problem is that he is more loyal to his Palestinian roots than he is to his country of birth. He was elected to do what his constituency wants him to do. Not to support blindly the Palestinian War effort. As soon as Trump quit sending money to Palestine Amash turned against Trump. Amash does not seem to be willing to accept that the money is stolen from the Pastinian families by the local militia and used to keep the War going.

  2. Get ready for a twenty percent increase in you Federal taxes when a Democrat gets elected. They will be charging you and me for the freebies they are giving to illegal aliens. When it hits your paycheck you will then understand. Twenty percent increase is what Bernie and Elizabeth Warren are saying they will raise Federal taxes. That means twenty dollars more taken out on top of what you are already being taxed on every 100 dollar. In another words for every 100 dollars you earn they will take 28 dollars out for Federal Taxes in addition to what your State takes out for taxes. I do payroll I know what I am talking about..

  3. Why should tax payers subsidize illegal aliens? Why do we not know how much dead weight we are carrying? Why should non tax paying aliens have special status? The government allows them to stay here and forces us tax payers to support them. That is insane.

  4. Including illegal aliens in census actually disenfranchises American citizens. How? Congressional districts are apportioned based on US census numbers. How is it fair that California is given more congressional seats than other states based on people that came into the country illegally? They get political representation that may have went to North Carolina or Arizona?

  5. Easy fix
All you Gotta say is a bunch of Russians are moving to America evading citizenship and voting that will get their support nice and Quick 😂

  6. Liberals don't want it on the census because they know illegals will be voting and adding to the electoral count. But since when has doing illegal things stopped them?

  7. Why is the Supreme Court making a ruling and saying it could change. If something is right or wrong today why would it be any different in the near future. Are they opening the issue up to word games. America was a better place 50 years ago.

  8. The Census falls under the Constitution…constitutional principles are UNIVERSAL, and pertain to EVERY power exercised by the federal government. Decisions about our communities are NOT within the class of powers granted to the federal government…especially when having NOTHING to do with apportioning direct taxes or determining the number of representatives in the House of Representatives.

The number of people residing in a house, and state pursuant to Article I, Section 2, Clause 3 of the Constitution, is the ONLY information they are empowered to request. Ones “name, sex, age, date of birth, race, ethnicity, citizenship, telephone number, relationship and housing tenure” have absolutely NOTHING to with apportioning direct taxes or determining the number of representatives in the House of Representatives. Therefore, neither Congress nor the Census Bureau has the CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY to make that information request a component of the enumeration outlined in Article I, Section 2, Clause 3.

  9. So if it’s ok to let illegals vote then we should let Russians vote too. No point in excluding the rest of the world from choosing who rules us……

  10. Another instance, providing proof that HUMPTY DRUMPFY, considers himself above any law. He considers himself to be the law. Save the US from this Orange Tyrant King. IMPEACH DRUMPF NOW!!!

  11. The purpose is to count every person.Has nothing to do with voting because it counts children and the 13 plus million with green cards who don't vote. The entire reason you want an accurate count is so the government can distribute your tax dollars accurately to each state. It's not rocket science but then again this is a symptom of electing an habitual liar who truly is an idiot.

  12. the founding fathers only concern was the number of residents not cirizens.

conservatives looking to weaponize the census for political gains

  13. “Neither branch of the legislative department [House of Representatives or Senate], still less any merely administrative body [insert Census Bureau], established by congress, possesses, or can be invested with, a general power of making inquiry into the PRIVATE AFFAIRS of the citizen. Kilbourn v. Thompson, 103 U.S. 168, 190. We said in Boyd v. U.S., 116 U. S. 616, 630, 6 Sup. Ct. 524,―and it cannot be too often repeated,―that the principles that embody the essence of constitutional liberty and security FORBID ALL INVASIONS on the part of government and it’s employees of the sanctity of a man’s home and the PRIVACIES of his life. As said by Mr. Justice Field in Re Pacific Ry. Commission, 32 Fed. 241, 250, ‘of all the RIGHTS OF THE CITIZEN, few are of greater importance or more essential to his PEACE AND HAPPINESS than the right of PERSONAL SECURITY, and that involves, not merely protection of his person from assault, but exemption of his PRIVATE AFFAIRS, books, and papers from INSPECTION AND SCRUTINY of others. Without the enjoyment of this RIGHT, all others would lose half their value.'"

    Interstate Commerce Commission v. Brimson, 154 U.S. 447, 479 (May 26, 1894)

If the federal government had been granted the general power to make inquires into the private affairs of the American people through the Census or a congressional mandated survey, then the Supreme Court could not have made this statement.

  14. Yeah, include the question. Red States will benefit the least if it's included lmao. Texas, New Mexico, Florida, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona will all have less representation in congress if the question is included. Because representation is based on how many people answer the census. Republicans are a bunch of dumb fxks shooting themselves in the foot.

  15. What difference does it make? The demographics is changing so rapid that the Hispanic takeover continues to become nearer every 2 years. Last year it was 2040
