Puerto Rico's governor looks to move up 2020 primary from June to March

Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello has filed a new bill in the U.S. territory’s legislature that would move its Democratic presidential primary from June to March. Rossello said the move is meant to keep Puerto Rico from being forgotten. The governor joined CBSN to explain why the move is important to the future of the island and why statehood should be considered a civil rights crisis.

  1. Uh welfare..uh Welfare …uh welfare..uh welfare..uh welfare ..Uh welfare..easy easy easy easy easy I am from Puerto Rico and I approve of this comment. 51 state welfare

  2. They left Puerto Rico to die after the Hurricane & now they're like "let's become a state". It seems like alot of people in the US want different things this election. Puerto Rico has a choice to become a state but they do not have a choice to become allies with anyone else. America likes to control people by putting them in debt.

  3. Fake White Man…. Oh see how they treat the Aborginial Indenigious!!! What about so called Blacks and Africans in Amerika still EnSlaved with no rights…. One drop….remember! Island for Rich People to have sex with Children!!!

  4. Wasn't Trump throwing paper towels at them trying to say "if you want help you better become a state"? Trump is here to renegotiate all our deals since America will no longer be the world's democratic super power. I'd wait & see how they treat Cuba or if America has a civil war in 2020

  5. People want to blame the troubles of Puerto Rico entirely on Puerto Ricans, when this is yet another manufactured failure of white corruption.

You can't impoverish an entire people and then blame them for not prospering. Enough of this white man guilt deflection. We need to own up to what we have done, not just to Puerto Rico, but The First People, African Americans, Asians, and Mexicans. Enough hiding behind our own guilt!

  6. I wish the USA would just dump Puerto Rico. It's been nothing but a millstone around our necks. Cut it loose and say "adios."

  7. Im puertorrican and in Puerto Rico. I do not believe any money should be given to the goverment of the island. They are just going to steal it and I cannot bear the embarrassment.

  8. They could never pay back their own debts and need a bailout, but corruption is horrible there. As you can see over 1/2 the people have left the island in the last decade..
