19. no you dont have to put your thumb up and down i put myne side to side and it worked wow lol you can make your finger scanner as comfortable as possible haha you have to actualy try it not just say no you cant

26. U actually can swipe ur thumb sideways when u register it and u can register your same thumb 3 times in the sideways swipe gesture so ur phone can recognise ur finger print more.

30. One of the main reasons that samsung couldn't of made the finger scanner better is because apple patented the technology and bought the company that is responsible for it.
    And yes the finger scanner on the Galaxy S5 is crap, if you think it isn't, you haven't had it long enough

After the release of the Galaxy S5, many people reported about the fingerprint scanner being crap and useless due to it being unable to correctly identify fingerprints, and most of the time throwing errors instead of unlocking their latest smartphone. The reason behind this is that when registering their fingerprints, users only swipe their finger over the home button, which is tiny and doesn’t provide sufficient area. The right way is to swipe their finger starting from the lower part of the display to the home button, not just the home button. This allows for a much greater surface area for the finger to swipe on and the result is flawless. This is actually Samsung’s fault and not the users’, because these instructions aren’t present in the current version of the fingerprint registration tutorial. If you didn’t knew about this, try it now!

35. u are wrong on the thumb part man… with practice u can easily swipe your thumb side ways for the fingerprint screen… so u can just use 1 hand to unlock your phone

37. you can set it up to swipe your thumb sideways and it'll work. that's what I do with my S5.

38. If you register your thumb sideways it will accurately register it for one handed operation. Works every time on mine. Also registering the same finger or thumb twice increases accuracy.

40. This video couldn't be anymore wrong. I've had Samsung galaxy S5 for a wee while now. Fingerprint sensor is excellent. The trick is when your recording your finger print move your finger round ever so slightly clock wise and it works perfect every time.

42. This isn't true at all, I'm right handed and I use my right thumb to unlock my phone, Josh did not do his homework this time….

43. That is not true… you can swipe fingers sideways to unlock, it just means you have to input the finger sideways in the settings
