In this video I help out a customer with a concern of no heat in his Nissan Frontier with the big 4.0 Turns out there was more to the issue than just a bad thermostat or plugged heater core.

  1. Great work, really appreciate the video as I have a similar Pathfinder. Do wear a seatbelt, please. Noticed the warning light at the end. We want you around a lot longer.

  2. I never work on my truck, but i just did this for my frontier, and it went great after watching this video. For anyone wondering, yes you can easily access the thermostat without removing the fan.

  3. That was a great video I was watching a few other videos just to see how to change the thermostat only glad you didn’t edit the video learned a lot more than those 15 and 20 minutes videos thanks

  4. My cousin's vehicle has no a/c and no heat. I Would like to see in your video more clearly when you disconnected the two heater hoses. So I can do the flushing on my cousin and fix his a/c and heater. Thank you.

  5. Why didn't the customer pay to replace all those hoses while you had it all torn apart . Lots of miles , preventative maintenance. Also i hear those plastic t fittings go bad on the heater core hoses.

  6. 2000 Dodge Dakota. I bypassed my heater core and installed an inverter to run a small 250W heater in the cab. Now I got heat, no more leak, no more steam on my windows.

  7. Good job on the video Eric. The best way I found to install the clutch fan on frontier is first install the clutch fan, second separate fan shroud and install top portion and then from the bottom install the second half of it. That way it will give you a room to install the clutch fan.

  8. This is an excellent video. I appreciate the fact that you showed the steps and components to remove to get to the source, in this case the thermostat. No short cuts, real time situation. Just found out my son has no heat problems and yes, the same type of pickup. Enjoyed your humor in the video and how you made it easy to understand. Thanks Eric, for making this video. Keep em comin. Now, it's my turn to git er dun.

  9. You get the Jinksyguy hall of fame award for thoroughness . . Every bit as particular as me . . kudos . . keep up the GREAT work ! People who can't diy really appreciate you…

  10. What mistake did you make ? If a clamp breaks, it's no damned good to start with. Stop apologising for shit that happens ! EVERYBODY gets stung by the rust beast !

  11. Hey Eric. You area a great mechanic. No need for embarrassment. You discovered the problem because you are thorough. Another good job! Your videos are never a mistake. They are always interesting .

  12. Depending on Mileage i guess or the Customer,s budget…Would have been an opportune time to change the water pump and both upper and lower rad hoses…Jmo.

  13. "Scosche" (adjective) … highly technical term describing anything that is a (smidge, hair, touch, tad, bit) different than something else. 😎👍

  14. Interesting. We still have a couple of those in our work fleet. They SUCK!!! no heat sometimes, marginal A/C all the time. Too small for two people always. Just curious as to the heat issue. The mechanic used by the company SUCKS too. Takes forever and they hardly fix anything. The Toyotas they've been replaced with are SO MUCH BETTER!
