  1. My dad was a task master when it came fencing..
A hand post hole digger & a tamping rod were the source of many blisters …
Starting at 8 & 10 yrs old my brother & I fenced our farm .
We had 20 acres of pasture , 20 acres of hay & about 20 of woods..
Our gates were made of slabs from my uncles sawmill & that was a constant source of repairs .
    I loved the farm ..
My dad encouraged my brother & I to invest in animals to raise & we did ..
    Pigs , chickens & cattle ..
When I turned 16 back in the 80's , my dad handed me $1000 to buy a vehicle..
    I pulled $2000 from my savings & with the extra $1000 I bought a truck .
The nxt yr I bought a Massey Furguson diesel tractor ..
By the time I left for college I had a regular source of income from brush hog work , plowing & discing garden spots & selling firewood ..
Our small farm allowed my brother & I to earn good money .
    I loved my truck ..
But I really loved my tractor & equipment ..
I still love old trucks & tractors ..

  2. We run four strand barb wire but we have to fix fence pretty regularly. We have a few fence crawlers and they teach their calves to crawl fence too. We have a commercial herd and use Simmental bulls. I really enjoy your videos and you are a very wise man.

  3. You’re lucky to get two cuttings from your hay fields! We only get one cutting and we alternate hay fields from year to year. We only get around 14” of precipitation a year. The farms in the valley get lots of cuttings because they irrigate. We have prairie hay and planted crested wheat grass. The rest of our land is for wheat and grazing. We do use range rotation similar to the way you do it. We calve in April and May and keep our heifers close to home and the cows on the home range until calving is over. We feed hay and cake during the winter.

  4. HAVE YOU TRIED HANGING USED C,D,S FROM THE FENCE WIRES? THE CONSTANT MOVING OF THE DISKS MAY INTIMIDATE THEM AFTER GETTING ELECTRICAL SHOCKS?

GOOD-WILL, SALVATION ARMY, ETC. RECEIVE OLD DISKS AS DONATIONS.

  5. 14:04 Pete, a forma como conversa com as vacas é uma grande demonstração da pessoa amável que você é.
    Meus parabéns!

Suas vacas berram muito.. o tempo todo.. 😂
As vacada brasileira é mais silenciosa.. 😂😂

  6. They think you have treats. I absolutely love your videos. I dairy farmed for 25 years with my dad, we sold in 1996, and I really miss it, especially the cows and calves, I loved them. Now all I have left are your videos. Thank you for taking the time to keep me entertained. We had a small farm, milked 63 Holsteins.
