Is Manchester City the best team of the Premier League era? | Premier League

Stewart Robson, Craig Burley, Alejandro Moreno and Dan Thomas of ESPN FC debate whether the 2018-19 Manchester City squad is the best ever to play in the Premier League after amassing 198 points in the last two league campaigns. The FC crew explain just how much credit Pep Guardiola should receive for his man-management of Leroy Sane, Vincent Kompany and his squad rotation in the latter stages of the season with Fernandinho out injured.

  1. all i’m saying is they managed to get 98 points this season while occasionally missing kdb, fernandinho or mendy. they had a attacking midfielder playing as left back.. They also dominated the league the year prior and won it weeks/months before it ended

  2. I am not city fan but people keep saying they bought title so man utd is not spend loads of money, Chelsea, Liverpool, there is no such a thing bought the title they smashed it simple be hater all you want but you wouldnt mind if man u go spend 500"mil and win then its OK jealousy that's all

  3. They score more goals than any other team, they win more games than any other team, they have a better goal difference than any other team, and most importantly, they earn more points than any other team. There are 3 major trophies in England, no team has ever been able to win all 3 in one year, I think they might just do it. They have to be the best. People can mention the Champions League, but lets face it, they didn't lose the tie to Spurs, they drew, it's just UEFA's nonsensical away goals rule that knocks them out, it doesn't separate quality in any way.

  4. Wonder if the jellyfish spineless joke that is fifa fair play will penalise city for breaching the rules . It's no secret that city have hardly any fans globally and cant fill their own stadium so how are they making any profit with their huge wage bill ? They don't have a stadium of their own and have to rent the Empty-had from Manchester council … that's what you call buying the league . I hope they suffer the same fate as Glasgow rangers

  5. No. Trophies make you the best team not the amount of points you win. They will win what this season? Premier league, league cup, and possibly f.a.cup. I can think of at least one team that have done better than that.

  6. This city team is hard to beat the other top 5 teams next season have to catch a wake up and try to take points away from them if they want a open league ,if crystal palace can beat them what's stopping the top 5 from beating them.

  7. It's easy when you can break the financial fair play rules. Why is Sky, BT, espn or bien not speaking about Citys financial regulation scandal? No mention of this and if this is proven then ANY trophies won this season is done by cheating.

  8. Dont forget, they have cheated the system by fraudulently hiding their FFP issues and in essence have literally bought the league. Liverpool is only 1 point behind them and are harder to beat. City lost 4 games to Liverpools 1. City also cant progress past the quarter finals of champions league and face a ban in the champions league. Yes a great team but one marred with financial cheat and classless chanting about stabbed Liverpool fan Sean Cox. So a great cheating, classless team, yes indeed.
