Notre Dame vs. Georgia Recap: No.3 Bulldogs Survive Late Push From No.7 Irish | CBS Sports HQ

After trailing at the half and taking a 13-point lead late in the game, No. 3 Georgia held on to beat No. 7 Notre Dame 23-17 in Athens, Georgia on Saturday night. The only matchup between top-10 ranked teams on the day was every bit as close as the final score suggests. Notre Dame had a chance to win in the final minute, but Georgia’s defense ultimately held strong as Fighting Irish quarterback Ian Book heaved up a prayer on fourth down that wasn’t answered with the ball knocked to the turf.
Jake Fromm’s final stat line in this statement win for the Bulldogs will not wow man — 187 yards and one touchdown — but he made a number of huge throws in the second quarter that helped Georgia take control of the game. Book finished with 275 yards passing and had two touchdowns, but he also threw two costly interceptions that loomed large in a one-possession game.

  1. There's finally a Notre Lame team that actually deserves its ranking ; not like the consistently overrated teams of the last 30 years. But, they are still not good enough against quality SEC teams.

  2. I didn't know how I was going to love watching my Dawgs without Chubb & Michel, but I gotta say…this year is exciting thanks to Fromm, Swift, Herrien, Pickens, Rodrigo, all of them…and a slew of new talent! We finally have DEPTH!

  3. Dumbass kelly and CO. Didn't throw down the field all game till 4th quarter same ol kelly not instilling confidence in our offense

  4. Kind of crazy UGA isn't ranked #1 after this. Apparently strength of schedule is just a bullet point. If every school scheduled like Bama college football would suck.

  5. Sucks we lost but one hell of a nail biter of a game. ND proving they can hang with the SEC. GO IRISH 🍀 💯 future looking better.

  6. 3 times in 7 minutes Notre Dame gets away with obvious penalties! How many times did the Refs "give them a break" in the whole game??? USC's another one they'll need help with. Michigan might require it, too. Look for it in those games. Then, think about their so "Storied History."

  7. Every time Coach Kelly plays a top 5 team in the country, he plays his team too conservative, protecting the too much.
Come on Coach K, turn ur team, the Irish. If u trust ur team put ur team to make plays.
The whole game until mid 3rd qtr, playing it safe, can't win like that.
Georgia started pounding the ball, making big plays.
Oh another thing tell ur QB, irish, to run the ball a little bit more
Trust ur team or go home coach Kelly, Go Irish!!!!
Jesuschrist in a pop stick, lets go!

  8. Everyone whining about this game by uga,,this is exactly what uga needed. To win a close contested game. I don’t think the players respected Notre dame and probably heard all the rat poison from media throughout the week. Coaches can use this as a huge coaching opportunity. 2017 we beat Notre dame by 1 and didn’t look amazing doing it. Then the team continued to get better and better and should have won the natty. This game will help a ton. Bet

  9. I didn't see 2 yards, or a Penalty Flag, on the Fair Catch at 40 seconds. SOS with anyone playing NT: Got to beat them AND THE REFS! Oh, I've watched, only, 40 seconds so-far.

  10. I’m disappointed with the loss but you can’t help but appreciate what a game and atmosphere that was. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that and might not ever again

  11. The Refs continuously tried to give this game to Notre Dame. There was no sense in a lot of the missed calls and the calls they gave to ND.

  12. For a ND team that is far far away from having the talent they typically have they played amazing . I believe if Saban was the Georgia coach Georgia would be winning championships because that team has major talent . I see it like Arizona in college hoops , Arizona gets big time talent but they rarely are ever able to get the most out of that talent.

  13. I don't know how to watch it absolutely free, However I registered last week on ScreenVariety Tv for $few/yearly. It's working on my mac and iphone.
