The Athletics can offer Kyler Murray more money to forgo the NFL Draft | SC with SVP

Jeff Passan joins Scott Van Pelt on SportsCenter to talk about the options in front of former Oklahoma Sooner and Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray. Passan admits that he’s heard Murray’s team is asking for at least $15 million to choose the Oakland Athletics over the NFL Draft, but Passan doesn’t believe the number to be that high. Despite the exact number, Passan does see “multiple millions” needed in order to have the former Sooner stay away from the NFL Draft.

  1. The irony of all of the comments about injury is that his only injury that I have every heard about happened in baseball his last season at OU. The A's know they have already had tons of free advertising due to Kyler. His association with the A's was mentioned during every broadcast of OU games. It has been discussed on every major sports show over and over.

  2. Okay.. Apparently people in the comments don't watch football.. Kyler is rated as a top 5 QB.. Do you know how many rules are in the game to protect a QB.? How much money it is as a top 5 QB.? You choose baseball if you want minor leagues for 2 or 3 years.. Or be a star from the word go in football. . . If you know.. You wouldn't choose baseball unless they offering 16-20 mil and straight to the league right under the majors..

  3. If they offer him 15 million he be crazy to turn it down longer career. ESPN hates baseball. I miss listening to Joe Morgan on Sunday Night Baseball . They talk only about football and basketball. 'I'm a Steelers fan but football has been ruled by the Patriots for years Small markets teams have won the World Series. Yankees haven't won in years The Royals beat my Mets and the Mets had great young aces stiil lost to a team with speed and great defense. The Cardinals have won a World Series The Cubs broke the curse . All this bull about the Patriots been done yeah right. The New York Giants won two Super Bowls But the Patriots back again in AFC championship. Colin Cowherd who hates baseball maybe because of the racist remark he said. My Mets will win a World Series before the Steelers win another Super Bowl.

  4. He makes more money in the NFL, but probably won’t be as successful, although we’re 5 years from telling if he’s good at baseball too. If I’m the A’s I’m not throwing the reported $15M at him, especially since it’s the A’s.

  5. Look back at the situation with Charlie Ward. He last 11yrs in the NBA and didn't have to worry about head injuries nor lose his position with the team as a starter when he was just as valuable off the bench or maybe he's the best Russell Wilson another 5'10 QB with baseball option but for him the position is limited.

  6. Kyler Murray would be stupid to go to the NFL. Let's be honest the Big 12 doesn't play defense, that's why he won the Heisman. He's severely undersized to play QB in the NFL. When you watch him play the first half vs Bama it was clear it was too much for him.

  7. What you want fame glory an a little bit of money for a short time or little bit of fame an alot of money with a longer career
I feel like if the oakland as give him the cash an he picks mlb over nfl it could actually spark a wave threw youth sports more parents are actually looking for a alternative from football more now then ever

  8. Why not try the NFL first. If he is a good QB he will get a big contract, if he can’t play at a high level in the NFL then he can just leave and play baseball. He only gets one chance to be an NFL QB, he can always go back to baseball if it is obvious he isn’t NFL material after a couple of seasons.
