The Lakers won’t be putting a max free agent next to Anthony Davis and LeBron – Woj | SportsCenter

Adrian Wojnarowski joins Keith Olbermann to talk about the Anthony Davis trade to the Los Angeles Lakers, which the New Orleans Pelicans are insisting gets done on July 6, preventing the Lakers from having the salary cap room to chase a max-level free agent (e.g. Kawhi Leonard, Kemba Walker) next to AD and LeBron James. Woj then (1:28) talks about where the Boston Celtics go from here, and why Mike Conley Jr. is the most likely player to be traded before the 2019 NBA draft.

  1. GET FUCKING BENCH PLAYERS YOU BUM ASS FUCKING LAKERS. YOU ALREADY FUCKED UP WITH THE AD TRADE. THIS IS GONNA LOOK LIKE A ROBBERY IN 5 YEARS.

btw im not a lakers fan

  2. The key here is 3 and D players and clutch on free throw shooting to target this offseason. The most popular guys like Danny Green will most likely sign with Toronto again, Malcolm Brogdon will be very expensive, and at that point we might as well get a jimmy butler, even though we should target for more strong role players. It’s not a strong 3 and D class right now so potentially may have to make trades later in the season. But let’s also not forget about playmakers behind bron. Look at what happened to the bucks since Giannis was their only true playmaker. First off, Patrick Beverly fits seamlessly into the PG 3andD role, but if we cant get him cause he seems to like Chicago, another playmaker that is affordable and underrated like Darren collision would be a good fit. Don’t sleep on Caruso as well as a third backup point, the kid makes the right plays and knows his role, has heart and is like a At center, no ones heard of this guy dewayne dedmon but ideal as a rim protecter/3 point shooter who can play his role. Lastly we can get purely 3 point shooters off the bench for a bargain who would be willing to take a pay cut, I’m sure Rodney hood off the bench or Wayne Ellington as purely a catch and shoot would be useful. Terrance Ross could be an option as well but may even start at times. Lakers should not resign lance who is there purely for entertainment, muscala when the FO got high and traded away our blossoming Zubac , nor Caldwell pope who was a fluke in Detroit.

  3. OMG will these talking heads just can it with the ‘third max player’ bull crap? The Lakers have LeBron James and Anthony Davis, they need to fill out a ROSTER, not pursue any more stars. If they can build a team similar to Milwaukee or Toronto in terms of depth with those two at the helm, the league will be in serious, serious trouble.

  4. If they can get kawhi then they needa risk not getting as good role players. That would break toronto apart and the only comp will be maybe houston and philly

  5. they do have the money RIGHT NOW for a max deal,  Anthony Davis still got one year left on his contract.. they can wait to resign him after next year

  6. Lakers have 27 mil if Davis waives no trade clause which he will plus midlevel exception and vet minimum.

    Altogether roughly 35 million.

Assuming most will take discounts for a championship run, I'd give these guys 1 year deals and leave a max slot open for next season.

    Brook Lopez
    Javale Mcgee
    Rajon Rondo
    Jamal Crawford
    Alex Caruso
    JJ Reddick

And they still have Kuzma, Wagner and Bonga.

  7. I once offered a meek, clearly starving and dehydrated ESPN host, (shall remain nameless) a hit off of my cigarrette outside of a hotel , he politely refused and said " I just need Lebron to win that's all my network cares about" right before he passed out and was rushed to the EMT with severe dehydration, malnutrition and self-inflicted stab wounds due to over-stress from upper heads at the office.

  8. This is the right move. Three superstars will just cause problems. They will all want the ball. You need some guys who can play of the ball and defend
