  1. The guy that’s knocking Miatas has obviously never driven one the way they’re supposed to be driven. I’ll bet he’s the kind that only understands straight line speed, horsepower numbers without a clue about the proper use of a manual transmission. His loss.
Safetywise, yah it’s all about defensive driving and situational awareness.
Check out a few YouTube videos about experienced sports car driver’s impressions of Miatas.
Ray, love your show and your values and family. If I lived closer I would definitely wait in line to get my car looked after by you.
    Take care.

  2. 1:11 the reason GM used the J35 in these is actually kind of funny: they (GM) had no OHC V6 at this point in time: the 54* Opel DOHC V6 that was initially the step-up option for this gen was scheduled to be phased out (and IIRC no one really liked it anyway), and the High Feature V6 family (3.0/3.6 DOHC) was nowhere near production ready (development started in 2002 IIRC); the 3.4L Twin Dual Cam was already long gone by this point, and GM felt that their OHV V6 engines would be out of place in the Saturn lineup (they'd change their tune on this a few years later but I digress).

Meanwhile, Honda needed small displacement diesel engines for their European offerings (they were working on their own, but they weren't ready and diesel isn't really a thing in Japan outside of trucks). I'm not sure who reached out to who first, but a deal was struck for GM to sell some of their diesel engines (which were ironically being used in European market offerings that would compete with Honda products) to Honda, and in return, GM got a supply of J35s for Saturn.

  3. Couldn't watch past 2 mins after realizing it was going to be a political video.. It's sad when the channels we usually go to, to escape politics, becomes politics.

I'll be back for the next video tho! ✌🏽

  4. You are one of a kind. I have to do this same job right now because my vehicle is doing the same thing, and in washington State, this will cost me $1400 because they have to take out the entire dash just to get to them.😢😢😢😢😢.

  5. Ray
It has been over 50 years since I replaced a set of brake shoes.
I just always let the auto slack adjuster do it's job.
Might have given it a slight turn ,just to make sure it spun free.
I always backed up quickly and gave it a few brake applications to make sure the auto section worked right.
Never really PREadjusted it. That was the way I was taught…
    Just sayin..

  6. Hey Ray
Not sure how I am to take your surprise rant based on brands and actual components.
Normal business practice for most companies building anything for a very long time. The list is endless…based on the economics of supply and demand.
    FYI

  7. Removing that actuator was some true mechanic hands coordination. Doing that left handed, upside down, thru the screen of a camera, then using finger leverage on the last connector was truly impressive!😅

  8. Ray, I think your customer that contacted corporate found out that Ford does in fact have a part number for the spring clip that is installed during assembly line on brake drums and rotors. Ford Part Number is E7TZ*1A107*A. When I was a tech at dealership, we installed new ones on each brake job for the same reason you had with a prior repair that corporate got involved with. Don't know if they are still available now, but they were hard for the parts uuys to look up, so I remembered the part number.
