The Sony Xperia 5 III comes equipped with Qualcomm’s Flagship Snapdragon 888 SoC, 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

On the display front the Xperia 5 III sports a 6.1 inch Full HD+ OLED (1080 × 2520) display with a refresh rate of 120Hz!

For optics we have a triple rear camera module – The Xperia 5 III has a 12MP primary with an F1.7 lens, a 12MP ultrawide with a F2.2 and finally another 12MP sensor – this time with a variable focal length. To the front we have an 8MP shooter for selfies and video calls.

When it comes to charging, there is 30W USB Power Delivery (USB PD) fast charging support that charges the 4500mAh battery to 50% in 30 minutes!

  11. where is your source that the xperia 1iii uses smaller resolution then the 4k most of the time? i cant seem to find that anywhere , and it was a huge disadvantage that it is kept in 4k because of battery use. but to me it didnt seem to have changed. there is no single source that says that

  12. Thank you for the video. Hopefully you will inspire some new users to Sony phones. My favorite is still the Xperia ZL, I used it for 6 years and I still have it and it works well, but no updates in a decade and now the US is shutting down 3G networks so it's just too out-dated. I think it's the perfect size and it has wonderfully grippy back texture. I just bought a 5 III and I do like it, but it's too big haha. For the last 2 years I was using the XZ2 compact, but same issue with 3G calling going away I needed to upgrade. More truly compact phones from Sony please! They are so wonderful!

  13. Had an s10 and needed to upgrade. I had to say F U to Samsung and decline from getting the s22 for taking away the sd card and headphone jack. That's why I went for the 5 iii.

  15. Been wanting to change phones (currently using pixel 4a) for a few months now. And i HATE that the options are huge-a$$ behemoths. Seriously considered switching to iphone 13 mini but I'm not that immersed in iOS. And then this. This ticks most of the checkboxes for me (headphone jack, stereo speakers, and i wanted to try 120mhz screen for a while now). I think I've found my next phone. Thanks for taking time to discuss the things that are consumer-centric.

  24. Under display fingerprint scanner is not superior to a proper fingerprint scanner, its slow and also less reliable and also not as durable, it just feels futuristic.

  26. Thanks for the review. I am very interested in knowing more about the heat problem of the snapdragon 888 int this phone. For normal use such as social media, watching youtube, playing Spotify and taking photos or recording short videos does it also cause annoying heat so it is not comfortable to hold?

    I've just recently sold my iPhone 13 Pro because it was too heavy and uncomfortable and ordered the Xperia 5 iii. Thanks for making a good review on this phone there are barely any out there!

  34. Great review. Purchased mine and the only regrets are no 5G in the U.S., this phone also loses wifi connectivity after the initial setup. It also has an annoying vibration when the finger print sensor is used to unlock it. Sony's customer support seems non existent.
