In this video I install a new clock-spring/spiral cable in a ladies 2012 Nissan Rogue. It’s not a bad job to do but the part is pretty expensive. I would definitely recommend using an OEM part though. Aftermarket SRS components are usually trash.

  1. Great video breakdown . I am using it just for the airbag replacement. . What do you do if you don't have the computer you use to re-do (aligning) the steering angle sensor ?

  2. Thank you..just got nissan 2021..cruise control not working..your insight was refreshing..but since 1mo old to service shop we go..but have confidence to see what job entails..just sitying if other hiccups occur…just few days..but BigThank You for your work..excellent!!

  3. How much is the replacement cost? Labor specifically. I have a 2012 Rogue that needs that part you just installed changed. My steering wheel components work only when the wheel is turned one way or the other including my horn. I watched the video and think I will be able to do it myself but should anxiety come into play, I’m gonna need to pay someone to do it for me.

  4. Look I appreciate the back and forth as I am pretty good mechanically but maybe just concentrate on talking through what you’re doing rather than having some fun with your lady. Not saying you can’t just pause the video but I’d hate for a novice that’s trying to save money to mess something up because they didn’t understand a step like for instance how snug you tightened the steering wheel nut

  5. Great video I have the same car with the same problem am going to use your video to Guide me through question Seatbelt on the passenger side is stuck am going to order one from the junk yard does it come with a Sensor or am good to go to install it and am going to have the codes reset from a auto body shop please let me know thanks

  6. Good morning, I just wanted to ask one thing, I'm sorry, I'm not an expert, but just to be clear, the airbag simulator is only placed in containers that don't have short circuits bar. I meant for control a clock spring . thanks a lot

  7. Thank you for the detailed breakdown. Got everything done in no time thanks to this video. Was without a horn or cruise control and it's great to have everything back without a fuss.

  8. I like that Nissan put registration marks on the steering wheels and shafts. Vintage Land Rovers don’t have registration marks on their steering wheels.

“you die the whole family falls apart, I die you get a new husband“ yeah that’s pretty much how it goes universally.

  9. Nice vid. Thx. Some dam ▪︎¤■□$^&***^^!!! thot he needed my '97 Nissan p/u more than l did. Got in and tore it alI up. So… l been putting 're back together repairing everything he tore up. Had to pulI strng wheel, clock spring etc. You name it. Quite an education fixing alI that stuff.

  10. Eric, I really enjoy your videos, and I love hearing the banter with your wife.
Self-tapping screws are usually used to assemble plastic parts, and there is a limited number of times these parts can be reassembled. When reassembling these parts, I've learned to insert the screw into the hole, push on the screw while turning it to the left until I feel the screw thread drop into the thread in the plastic, and then tighten to the right. Doing this reuses the original threads instead of cutting a new one. I understand that most of the time, you will likely be the last person to work on that area of a car, but adopting this practice will enable a greater number of times a plastic part can be reassembled. Actually, I do this with most threaded fasteners, and I find that it helps prevent cross-threading.
Thanks again for all of your videos.

  11. Eric if you are careful swapping the steering angle sensor into the new clock spring, does it always have to be recalibrated? I am about to do a 2011 Rogue for my wife, and I have a cheap little scanner that can't do that. I did buy the OEM clock spring.

  12. NY actually passed a law a few years ago mandating snow removal from the top of vehicles because that truck that lost the ice of the roof of the trailer killed a person. I expected that component to be way more complex to replace. You made it look easy. 👍
