In this video we have a look at a customers 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche that is having some issues with the power seat on the passenger side. A quick test shows that the switch is bad. We try to fix it Russian NPR style and fail. We can’t get one right away so we make a little trip to the junk yard and save the day! Man I love the pick and pull.
-Enjoy!

Ok, let me clear this up for the people saying this job cost more than the new switch. In my shop I get $90/hr.
On diags I have a one hour minimum. This whole job as you saw was less than one hour. The salvage yard is less than 2 miles from my shop. I billed the customer my one hour diag fee and the price of the switch from the junk yard. The whole job out the door after tax was less than the cost of a new switch. It saved the cust approx $90 installing a used switch. Where ever you are getting your info from that this is a 3 to $400 repair I am not sure. Hope this clears somethings up.

Mr. O, you are a mechanic I would have zero heartburn paying whatever your hourly rate is. I wish just a simple majority of your peers would be as diligent and honest as you, sir. BZ!
This is a late question but I am still trying to learn schematic reading and by looking at the schematic you attached, would it be fair to say that I could jump the black wire to any other motor wire like the light blue because they all are attached going to ground? Then jumping the red to dark blue and then the red to the dark green it would operate the motor in both directions.
Also what you charge is always fair and honest, the naysayers are jealous they don't have anyone like you in their towns.
Hey, could you get me some pieces from that Avalanche? I need the trim from the left rear window outside and belt for the driver's seat? Avalanche specific pats are hard to find as they are just slightly different from the Tahao/Suburban parts.
Your the bestâ¤â¤â¤
The owners of Wilbert’s must love you, Eric
Very satisfying video, many thanks
It's amazing that people notice your nails instead of the work? That's fkd up.
Enjoyed this one–Avalanche was my favorite truck I have owned (actually traded one in on a newer one, so had 2). I cannot remember ever seeing anyone try to repair a switch–great stuff. Thx!!
It has goo in it from somebody smoking lol. I laughed at that one. I am a heavy smoker and my car has zero goo in the switches. People that spill soft drinks and eat shitty food in their cars are worse than smokers.
Is that place a sponsor?
once again,wilberts saved the day.
I sure hope you're not still working once you retire.
Love it when the fix is Wilbert's.
You're the man!
I may stop by Wilbert's should I vacation in the area. It sounds like an automotive version of Mount Rushmore!
Always fun to go to Wilberts. They call themselves Wilberts of Bath but they are closer to Avoka.
I wonder why you didn't just take the whole panel? Can't imagine it will cost more and it would've saved you a bunch of fiddling.
Full Russian lol Ivan sure does love fixing things lol ðŸ˜
The switch is like an onion you just have to peel back the layers. Then you can see what makes your eyes water and stinks.
My bet is someone got the seat belt
Caught on the switch, and moved the seat pulling on the switch with too much force.
@11:10 If it aint broke fix it until it is.
Like Wilbert videos
I have a 2003 Maxima with a similar problem. Hopefully this info will apply to my Ying-Yang car.😂
You skipped over the best part. What did Mrs. O make for lunch?
90% discount on part. All day long. You rock dude.
The used switch could quit working tomorrow, so the customer will pay for a new GM switch and for time and material on a used switch. I don't mean this as a criticism because you're undoubtedly aware of this, but to illustrate a dilemma. I can substitute a used part for a customer's repair and hope the part doesn't fail anytime soon, or, I can install a new part with greater assurance that it will last longer. I might prefer installing a used part, but I risk a comeback and an annoyed customer. If I can contact the customer, I'll usually ask them if they want to risk a used part, and they usually say, no. I'm referring to electrical parts, which can be hard to assess.

Love y'all videos there a big helper fore thanks for that
Looking at why a vehicle ehicle is in the junkyard is a critical step. It may be wrecked, engine damage, electrical issues, or what ever.
Nothing “lame†about the video. It was relaxing sitting with you as you diagnosed it. Reminded me of my late uncle Vic – he wasn’t one to remove-and-replace, he was more interested in how-does-it-work, and why’d-it-break…
I have a '21 Silverado as a rental and by the controls on the seat, it looks like it takes the same switch.
Top takeaway: Line up your guide pin before you go shoving it in….
I put my thumb up for ya
Eric, there's a reason why I watch your channels. Because I like your attitude and the character that you are. And you explain everything to detail and go the extra mile. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Your finger doesn't look that bad to me, but being a mechanuc i guess i am used to it because i have one i.smashed and it healed with a bubble right next to the nail..lol
A simple cheap switch is better than a module any day
Nothing but love, may day be covered in Awesome sauce 😊
20 minutes "hang out" time is therapeutic .
