In this video i show you the process I use to replace the rear trailing arm bushings on the 2013 to 2019 Ford Escape’s. The whole arm is really cheap from Ford but they have been on back order for a year now so this is what we do.

Hi my 2018 ford Escape rear wheels are wearing toe out. The inner edge of the tires are wearing. Is this an indication that I need to do a complete control arms replacement to fix the problem?
Son of a….. SUSPENSION JACK!?!?!? Fml. I just lined it up in the driveway with using a large prybar with my leg and holding the trailing arm with my hand and using my other hand for the bolt. Once it’s in it’s easy though. Definitely unaligned everything though 🤦â€â™‚ï¸ðŸ˜‚🤣 I’m just here trying to find torque specs to be proper lol
For reference anyone doing this without a bridge jack, bolt it up to the wheel hub first then pry it to do the two bolts up top. It’s literally impossible the other way around 😅
Yes, they aren't that difficult to replace.Good tutorial. Now, the 1st and 2nd generation escapes are a whole different story. If anyone has worked on those trailing arms when they are sezuied (bolt and sleeve), they will know what I'm talking about.😊
I've gotta BFH, A shakey hand, and the Mind set of, You Can't Hurt Junk! 😂 Great Video! Thanks for sharing.
Would you have the part number for the trailing arm?
Anyone know if these are the same as the ones on a 2019 Lincoln MKC? I believe they share the same platform as the Escapes. Can't find trailing arms for a 2019 Lincoln MKC and we have one with both bushings blown out in the shop. TIA.
@SouthMainAuto My right rear bushing was pushing out of the trailing arm towards the outside of the car. Upon putting a new bushing in and putting the 3 bolts on the trailing arm, the bushing end of the trailing arm indeed does not line up, rather wants to sit way off towards the center of the car. This will once again make the new bushing fail (push to the outside of the car) I believe this is due to excessive toe in. Is there a way to adjust the toe without buying aftermarket adjustable toe links? I do not see any info or videos on the internet with how to adjust the rear toe on Escapes factory suspenion.
nice video wish you was down my way to do mine
Really helpful video! What are the torque specs for the 3 rear knuckle and the 2 body bolts?
I’m going to show to my mechanic because I think I mine are bad. Thanks.
Why oh why are u taking the arm off and not using one of the many tools made to specifically remove and fit these bushes with the arm on the car, with not alignment needed after 🤦â€â™‚ï¸
I went to go grab my air hammer with a regular chisel attachment to remove the sleeve. Turns out I had the same attachment as this video. Brand new, never used. Took the sleeves out like butter. Thanks for showing me a tool I didn’t know I had!
thanks this is my car
I'm in Buffalo New York and I have a 2016 Ford Escape SE a d the passenger side is incredibly loud when you hit a pot hole or anything really. Should I replace both sides or can I get away with just the passenger side?
Why buy just the bushing when you can buy the whole arm these cars are garbage
Just get the arm with the bushing
Hi , i got the same problem with my ford escape 2015 titanium do i have to buy the whole arm or just change the bushing how you did in that video
Eric, you really should wear AT LEAST a pollen mask when grinding/sanding any rust/corrosion off car parts. Lung tumors are created by inhaling irritants into the lungs. There are no pain receptors in your lungs. You can have a lung tumor growing and never even know it. Only 8% of lung cancer is caught in stage one. Lung cancer is usually discovered by accident and most always diagnosed at stage 3 or 4. Please take care of your lungs bro. I love your videos. You help me maintain/repair all the vehicles my family own.
Only doing one side..should I jack up both sides same time or can I jack up the side I'm working on & bolt holes will stay lined up..I think it be OK since it's like an independent suspension
I had noisy rear end when going over bumps and had the Trailing arms replaced and i still have the knocking noise when going over bumps. Any suggestions?
If these bushings are worn would it cause the suspension to make a knocking sound over pot holes?
Crazy thing is, my son just ordered a set for his Escape.
The complete trailing arm was cheaper than just the bushing. 🤣
ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
Nobody will be happy with a dirty hole!
Thank you so much man this video helped me a lot!!
My lady has a 2019 ford escape that had this problem with the trailing arm bushings. I took this information that this site gave me & it worked perfectly. The part number he gives you is correct for a 2019 ford escape . Saved my lady hundreds of dollars
Even my electric 1/2in impact will not loosen trailing arm bolts
Guessing an alignment would be needing after removing both arms like this?
I used the Dorman bushing and it worked great. It was a pain in the butt getting apart without a lift getting enough leverage to brake the bolts loose. It went back together better then I thought it would. Thanks for the video, saved my daughter a bunch of money
Use the moog if available. I did these this afternoon with the dorman part . PIA . Even with the new bushing in the freezer for days and heating up the arm with a torch , still bashed the hell out of it . Ended up taking away metal where the bushing resides , little by little until the bushing fit tight . Popped the bushing back out , coated it with green loctite sleeve retainer , drove it back in , bolted it back together and let it sit . Strange the passenger side was completely shot , but the drivers side was still in great shape .
Thanks for the tips.
Love Eric O
where's you safety glasses ………….why do i always have to be mr kill joy.
Helpful thank you. Tool wise is big nasty doing ok?
Great !
Great Video…what's the part number # for the arm with bushing ? The part currently on backorder from Ford ?
