In this video I have a look at a customers 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan that won’t crank over. He took it to another shop and they replaced the starter but low and behold it still won’t crank. They did get it running for him and sent him down the road. Let’s have a look and see what’s really wrong with it.
-Enjoy!

  1. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT – If you are watching this video on 7/24/25 or 7/25/25 and you don't fall asleep before the end screen and you see that part II is listed as "Members Only." DO NOT PANIC Do not send me nasty emails, don't unsubscribe, don't tell me I am an asshole or a sellout in the comments and DO NOT CALL MY SHOP to tell me you can't watch it. The part II will be posted on the 26th at 5pm just like I ALWAYS DO. The reason it says members only is because there are some folks that support our YouTube channel by becoming a "YouTube Member" and it gives them early access to all videos I put out. Take a breath, slow down, everything is gonna be OK. Nothing has changed. It's still free like it has been for the past 10 years.

    Thanks for watching!

  2. I gotta remember to put the video speed to "normal". 1.25 makes you talk faster than I can comprehend. Well done. I bet the customer appreciates the timely temp fix.

  3. This was the "right" fix, no matter what the internet people might complain about. There's no reason for a different TIPM (they're all junk anyway). It was completely unnecessary for Chrysler for power this relay directly from the logic controller, since all the control is done at the ground side. They should have just directly connected it internally to a run/start power source. You correctly bent the relay pin over to take the TIPM out of the circuit and soldered the connection. The fuse tap is fine since most relays only use about 200ma of current. I would have done exactly the same thing.

Hard to say what caused the actual failure but something blew the transistor in the logic controller. It's very possible someone tried to jump the relay connections to manually crank it but didn't know which pins were which. It's also possible the wrong relay was used. If 85 & 86 pins are reversed the suppression diode isn't reversed biased anymore and becomes a direct short. It's unlikely.. I doubt there are multiple pinouts for that relay style but you never know. Regardless, nice fix! I'm sure your customer is grateful for having a tech that actually knows how to repair things.

  4. I had a 2010 whose problems began with a neutral safety switch, followed by dealer frying computers, then eventually trans started grinding, and no start happened intermittently. Replaced tpim and problem still was intermittent. Sold it but a new trans probably would have fixed all.

  5. "We need an M16, that will take care of this thing" 😂 Thank you for the knowledgeable and humorous videos, much appreciated. Keep up the great work!

  6. The more of these Chrysler vans that die the better. They should have quit building them years ago. They are & always have been trash.

  7. Hey, I know you're not in Indiana but I have a company locally that rebuilds tipms for half the price of a new one. I'll help ya out if I can. I know those things are expensive.

  8. I use my late fathers Citroen Berlingo (bought second-hand in 1999) that had an alarm fitted from the factory. We had no alarm disable fob but we don't use the alarm anyway so we weren't bothered.
A couple of years ago, I silly-me left the lights on and drained the battery. I recharged the battery but this seemed to re-enable the alarm. Now every time you opened a door or the tailgate the alarm horn blows (barp barp barp) for thirty seconds then turns itself off. Not good as I leave for work at 05:00, the neighbours won't be happy.
The owners handbook says to press a button under the dash here (picture) to disable the alarm but the car obviously hadn't read the manual as the button wasn't there.
Obviously there in no information anywhere about wiring layouts for the alarm system.
By design, if the ignition is on, the alarm is disabled. I need a way to get into the car silently.
I disconnected the door switches but the interior motion sensors are still active.
I found by experimenting that taking out fuse 7 cuts power to the alarm module, but also disables the fuel pump so the engine won't start.
I added a fuse and toggle switch to a spare dashboard blank plate and did an EricO job on the fusebox, which fortunately is under the dash. So now I have manual control of fuse 7.
When done driving for the day, I toggle the switch to off so I can exit the car. Next morning I unlock the car and climb in. I turn the ignition on (so alarm is disabled), toggle the switch to on to power up the fuel pump and off we go, all without waking the neighbours.
After a few weeks, I found information in the 2004 model handbook that tells me if the alarm is triggered ten times consecutively and the alarm does not ever see the fob, the alarm automatically disables and remains disabled (until the next time the 12v battery is disconnected or drained/recharged).
So I went for a drive in the country, found a quiet spot, and spend ten minutes setting the alarm off ten times and yes, it shut itself up. 👍

  9. Had this just happen in a 2010 F150. Random No crank. Would run fine when running, No codes or symptoms of any kind. Replaced starter.. nada. Random "I ain't gonna start" … new ECU … ouch 😞

  10. Had a similar issue with a 05 trailblazer had everything needed no codes nothing. To lead me in the area. The fuse box was bad and it was a 1 year only box BS so I had to run a fused jumper for it to work properly.

  11. I went through seven tipcm's on my 06 2500 before I received a good one, all for the stupid asd relay, such crap!! The good thing was they all came full of fuses and relays so I now have fuses and relays for life, lol.

  12. It must be a Chrysler thing because mine did that exactly same thing 6 or 7 months ago on my Chrysler Pacifica all wheel drive 3.5 liter v 6 it is a 2005 and the tpm was working just fine and when I went to start it there was nothing had to have it towed to the shop and they had to replace it and reprogram the replacement from the used parts place I had been having trouble with the electrical system and the shop discovered it by luck chance when they were doing like you do a good diagnosis before throwing the parts cannon at it it only cost about 2-300.00 dollars to get it all fixed ty for letting me share Matt AKA DDP be safe out there My friend and brother and Miz O yuuuuup

  13. Sometimes, a man has to tread on the dark side, even if that means installing a fuse tap.
Seriously tho, bending the rules to save someone's bacon is almost always the right thing to do.
I am proud of you 🔨💯

  14. Unfortunately I’m watching this about two weeks late due to cancer surgery, any way I was going to say tipum and I have done the same thing with the wire just so I can start it inside the vehicle
