The first test drive and dyno session for my brand new 1JZ-powered coupe build is finally here… and it did NOT go how I expected.
After going all-in on extreme weight reduction, this might be one of the lightest 1JZ drift cars ever built. On paper, that sounds perfect — more power-to-weight, faster response, better performance. But once we hit the dyno and took it out for its first drift test, things got interesting…
In this video, we go through the full dyno results, break down the power numbers from this turbo 1JZ setup, and take the car out for its first real shakedown drive. The result? A seriously fast car that might actually be too light to drift properly.
If you’ve ever wondered how far is too far when it comes to weight reduction in a drift car, this video answers it. Between the insane power-to-weight ratio and unpredictable handling, this build pushes the limits of what makes a drift car actually work.
This is one of the wildest builds we’ve done — and definitely one of the most surprising first drives.
