So I love Linux for my daily desktop driver, but there are some things that I hate about it. Here are the 5 things that I wish were different. .

7:50 i've been trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with one of my pc's for year now… i've tried many distros and components and it was power management after all… it's my only old pc tho, i haven't had this issue on any modern builds on am4 or am5 i've done and that's my only intel pc, can it be intel related?
So after 5 years 5 out of 5 problems have been resolved and the bonus? Kinda you have to hunt for packages too but now its easier standardized wouldnt be th3 phrase id use to describe it but easier than befor3 sure..
yes i want mass adoption i want microsoft to lose and fall they suck
Wow, Those 600+ distros of Linux instead of a Unified Effort isn't really paying off is it.
Linux Development is like trying to Herd Cats… nVidea (and others) are probably waiting to see if you Linux guys can get your 5#!+ together before wasting time on you.
Right now, the only issue I've been having is using the elgato stream deck to interact with OBS studio. I have streamdeck-ui which I can use to open a program(including OBS,) but I can't find any guides that show how to change scenes in OBS or to start recording/streaming.
I want to be able to run the same software I run on windows.
For some reason audio on linux is better than windows for me
i definitely want mass adoption because the more people use linux the less apps I'll need to switch over to windows for
You really nailed these points Chris, 110% agree and I am not a daily user of Linux, but these points are spot on ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
And I would add one more related to the Intel integrated GPU drivers and their performance loss in Linux vs Windows related to the power management. But I will try TLP tool to see if it gets fixed or not.
Thanks, Changed this year from Manjaro to ArcoLinux.
I'm just daily driving Linux for a while now and most of things looks great so far, but some things like what you said made me appreciate more Windows. The thing that surprised me the most is discovering that sometimes FOS Software doesn't always "work better on Linux" as one would believe. For example, Audacity supports realtime effects on Windows and Debian, but not on Fedora because the plugin is debian based.
I think Mass adoption wouldn't hurt anything as long as the developers stay true to themselves and stay open source
Just watched this in 2022, the mass adoption question and answers, the negativity could stem from the fear of becoming like Win-doze? Used windows for years (started 3.1), Unix trained by AT&T, worked routers (Cisco/Juniper), taught command line Protell telcom input, used telnet to access multiple vendor equipment, so change to me is not something to fear. But, I have used Mint for almost three years and it is great, some of the issues mentioned in this video I have experienced. Replaced my Canon printer and got a Epson multi, the Canon was much harder to get scan function to work, Epson was easy. As long as Linux stays opensource, and maybe that should be part of the question, I say YES! Still use Win-doze 10, resisting 11, use Mint almost 95 percent of the time.
For me it feels like Jesus made the Linux kernel and all the distros are made by the US democratic party. When it comes to GUI, distros are 20 years behind Microsoft Windows. Not meant as a war between MS and Linux!
In 2022, I have these sames issues, I tried Mint, PopOS, Zorion-OS, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora. With Fedora My Screen Do not work at 165Hz 🙁
2022
NVIDIA is easily installed even in Debian!
In my experience I have no problems with peripherals – I don't use any! hauhauauhauau
Pavucontrol is wonderful! Gnome 43 is coming to improve it…
Gnome and KDE have improved a lot!
I had to install the AMDGPU drivers to make my monitor work in a decent resolution, not great either
In short, for Linux to be mainstream there needs to be a standard type that normies use without having to be a tech person. So many people would LOVE to go away from Microsoft and Apple, but aren’t tech people.
i think changing audio per application is a great feature
In my opinion the problem with Desktop Linux is consistency. It is not about how cool it looks, it is about how consistent everything is. Everything looks like a rushed work. I would not even mind if everything looks ugly but at least the same ugly everywhere.
Adding storage and all the ridiculous steps to own the file. There has to be an easier way.
In Linux, Having to upgrade the whole distro (including all the other installed apps you dont want to upgrade) just to install a new version of one single app you want to update is a nightmare. Total bullshit. Users. Dont. Want. That. Users dont want one update to trigger another update, or even to trigger the upgrade of the whole desktop.
Wait is that Stare Fleet panel?
So cool 😃
Reasons why i hate linux
1. CANNOT RUN EXECUTABLE FILES
2. SLOW PERFORMANCE
would you try to see the ai voice system it is bad voice how can i fix that i try to work on it for 6 monthe butit is not fixied
plz help i love liunx i dont went to switch to windows
Valid points.
"..I wish nVidia would open source some of those things.."
Well one hacking attack later nVidia does.. not only b/c the code got leaked I suppose xD
Death to Linux.
Unusable unless you are a geek. I have to use it and I hate it. It makes the simplest task asdf—$<85/<>^ in the command line. Just fing hate it.
Recording Audio in Linux in my experience is a NIGHTMARE. I found Linux kind of annoying when comes to audio. I think I also need to put this out. I've used both Ubuntu and Kubuntu. And the reason that I came back to Windows 10 is because of compatibility limitations. KVM GPU Passthrough is shitty and pitty. And Wine is that of a poop, I don't have a choice to come back to Windows 10. I am using a laptop and a desktop with AMD GPU but…. The KVM GPU Passthrough is another rabbit hole that I have to deal with for the past few weeks just to properly run Windows 10 under Linux. It's a pain. But, Linux in User Experience is so much better than Windows 10. And I wish that Terminal exist in Windows 10 as well.
I'm totally with you on the power management part, I installed Linux Mint on my laptop and the CPU in my laptop even under heavier workload gave up, basically it was running on 1.0GHz all the time even tho it has Turbo Boost and it should be able to do 3.3GHz on single core and 3.0 GHz on all cores. I had to disable Intel power features and S1 and S3 state to work it properly. That is one thing that pissed me when using Linux.
I like Linux just because there is so much things to learn. I think learning and discovering new things is fun.
