This 70s L225 kubota tractor was purchased after being abandoned at an estate sale a few years back, we got it up and running but several problems have made it useless. getting stuck in 2 gears and the 3-point hitch won’t stay up. let’s tear into them and see if we can fix it.

  1. when in neutral and the lever is moved sideways left and right, often becoming a habit for those driving manual transmissions to verify it's in neutral, the tab may be running up and down the sides of those worn pieces on either side of it over the years and in a slightly ovalized path and so prematurely wearing them. and degree to which they are worn may be dependent on who the operator was and the amount of shifting required in its use.

  2. My Father in Law has a Ford 8N and we had issue similar to this. I took it apart and the piston cracked the housing and was leaking by. Replaced piston and housing and issue has been resolved for a few seasons now. Not sure if Kubota are anything like the old Fords though.

  3. Changing the ball are a critical problem but you need to lap the seats also by buying two more balls brazing them to rods and using lapping compound to repair

  4. THIS Fella over the last 10 or 15 years when I started watching him when he had his back problem?
because I just finished mine and I’m limited I can’t pick up my own toolbox. This guy has taught me more about mechanics and carburetors. Then you can learn in a book in school❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥🙏🏼🇺🇸

  5. I didn't get a good look at the worn check ball. Could the worn looking side actually be made to nest with the spring.
I was actually thinking of adding metal to the shifter when you said it.
I like your Jetson's battery charger.

  6. I'm having a similar issue with my ford 3400 3 point hydraulic but supposedly i am using the correct fluid (Triax Agra STOU 10W-30 – Super Tractor Universal, Transmission, Hydraulic) have any suggestions?

  7. Darren-I would imagine that the new ball that replaced the damaged one (stop it), that the seat is hammered as well. The seat may actually conform to the new bearing surface and get a little better as it wears back in. The larger diameter probably helps too (stop it). I would be very happy with those hydraulics. As long as they give you the control you need for what you're doing.
    Nice work on the shifter/video.

  8. I have a JD with 120 hours on it. Since new, the three point won’t stay up with engine turned off. With no load on it, it will drop all the way down within an hour. According to my neighbors who also have Deers, that is perfectly normal.

  9. I think you'd enjoy a brass wire wheel over that old steel wire. Its a lot more gentle on parts (and fingers) good episode – finally had a moment to watch it. Sometimes a spacer will be required – keeping the point of contact off of the spool contact point.

  10. New camera…doesn't seem to show as close as your old Canons. Unless you make a special effort to move closer, we don't see what your talking about…like on the gear box. Just FYI.
