Torque specs??
Thanks, bro. Super helpful.
Has anyone experienced issues with the alternator on their Odyssey? Would love to hear about your experiences.
Looks easier than my Hyundai Santa Fe. Looks like I'll be doing my Honda Odyssey this weekend. Thanks for the tips Eric.
Thank you, sir, for the collar adjustment tip @2:43
Able to DIY this job in less than 3 hours. Spend more time fighting the belt and dropping wrenches than removing and installing.
How does a job like this cost?
i did the same job on my acura, i simply removed the radiator fan assembly and i had all the space i needed.
Usually I take the ecm out as it gives ya enough space without having to remove the motor mount bolt that can be gods bane to break free from rust and then smacking something that’s brittle. All things considered it’s easy to remove and makes the ac job SOOOO much easier
That van needs the vcm bypass
Just changed the alternator on my 2011 odyssey over the labor day weekend!
Fancy coming to ireland to fix my car 😅 im stuck dunno where to turn
I thought my XJ was bad…
Muy bueno. Familia numero uno. Paz y salud, then comes having your own shop. No one to raise rent
Thanks for the tips. I love Honda, but that procedure makes me want to buy a Chevy. Come on Honda, it doesn't have to be that hard!
@ErictTheCarGuy, seems someone on you FB account is posting s New Hampshire number wanting me and others to call, I suspect it is spam or you account has been hacked. -Charlie.
Glad to see Honda made it easy 😅
Yup, the ahop broke the wire to the AC plug and they half assed taped it together. Guess what, it broke. The lady didn't have AC for a while. I fixed it correctly while replacingnthe radiator on the van, I had good access. Before anyone says it. She didn't know it was broken until 6 months later when the summer heat started.
Good to see you Eric. Have a great day
Don't have to remove engine mount bolt
thanks for showing how to peel back the onion to get to the alternator. it also helps us to see why a garage charges so much labor an these and similar jobs
Hope all is well Eric!
Love when you work on these honda
What is the best way to deal with the electric emergency brake when doing rear brakes on a 2018 5th gen Odyssey? Thanks!
Thank you Eric love watching your videos when you going to do more videos please watching from South Africa
Eric Swapped it in 4:26! that has to be a record! I miss your videos man stay dirty
Interesting timing. I just replaced the alternator in my 1996 Dodge Neon on Wednesday. In that instance I went from below, and the worst part was backing off the tensioner adjustment bolt to remove the belt– in my case the tensioner bolt was in a fairly inaccessible spot behind the alternator splash shield and I could only turn the ratchet 1/8th of a turn at a time. Took forever to release enough tension to get the belt off, I thought something was wrong after the 100th turn….
Glad to see these vids, hope all is well and that we get more soon Eric!
Removing the serpentine belt tensioner can also help free up some room. 14mm and 12mm socket
